There really is no such thing as "The White Vote". |
|
I'm amazed at the ignorance of a lot of people that assume whites vote pretty much uniformly across the country. This isn't even close to being true. In the NE, they vote 55-60% Democratic. In the Midwest, whites almost split down the middle, same goes for the West Coast. In the plains states, they split 60/40 Republican. Then venture south where in some states Democrats are lucky to break 20-25%.
The fact that some people can't see the difference between Wisconsin white voters and Mississippi white voters, Vermont white voters and Alabama white voters, Oregon whites and West Virginia whites, and so on is nothing short of astonishing for supposedly well educated people. Even within those regions, there are huge differences just as there are huge differences within all racial groups. I don't know why this is shocking to some people that there might be nuance and variation in any large segment of voters.
Obama can win pluralities, or even outright majorities, of the white vote in many regions of the country, but won't come even close in others. Luckily, Obama and his campaign understands the nuances of the 70-75% of the electorate that is Caucasian a lot better than people on this board.

2. They certainly should be. People are even more guilty of it with blacks since |
|
they vote 90% Democratic. However, as with any significant voting bloc, there is a great deal of variation in terms of concerns, interests, and background. It's the same story. It's just that African Americans have good reason to vote Democratic in such numbers.

3. HRC's 'hard working whites vote for me/ color votes for him' meme |

is an awful lot like bush/cheney's: 'yer with us or with the terra-ists' bullshit.
It is not leadership, it is an attempt to lead herds around through hitting the worst of human nature: fear
Fear of being bullied for thinking for one's self; fear of going against the herd; fear of THEM (whoever 'them' is)
HRC is using ROVE tactics and the Democratic party is better than that shit. Fear of
