Mike Malloy says Obama/Clark is the ticket which will bury Grandpa McLoony |
|
Clark is on my short list, and I think it would be a strong ticket.
Your thoughts?

to fit over there with the Clinton foreign policy based on what he said before he jumped on the Clinton bandwagon. IMO He and Obama fit much better together.

4. Clark is from Little Rock, and I think he's been friends with the Clintons for years |
|
So that's why he sided with Hillary. I would think that Clark would be different from the Lanny Davis/Harold Ickes/Carville/Begala types though, and do what was right for the country, over what serves Hillary's ego, at this point in time when the contest is over.

3. I think Obama's VP choice depends on his priorities |
|
While its true McCain will lay claim to military experience, is that something Obama wants (or needs) to match?
It seems to me that Obama's notion of change is to move us away from our military adventures, replacing it with an emphasis on resolving international issues with a foreign policy that strives to use high level negotiations.
Wouldnt a foreign policy expert be a better choice then?

I think either of them would be good for pre-empting right wing attacks on alleged "weaknesses". But if Clark was Veep, Richardson could be Secretary of State.

Edwards as Attorney General, ripping the corporatists a new asshole. Kucinich at HHS. Although then we'd have to replace his seat in Congress.

But match any diplomat to Mr. "Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran" and there's no contest.
FWIW, Clark has both military and FoPo cred.

Get the military background without putting a crucial Senate seat at risk. Plus, Jim Webb is about to become the Senior Senator from Virginia!
I can dig it... and it telegraphs to voters that Obama is serious about getting out of this war, responsibly, and, as he says, "with as much care as there was carelessness getting in."

Actually, I would expect President Obama to consult with any of the retired generals (the ones who are not Chimp ass-kissers) for their ideas how to go about removing the troops.

7. Obama/Clark would be a dream ticket in my book |
|
Wes Clark has been solidly in the Hillary camp, so he wouldn't come out and play until Hillary has gone -- whenever that may be. A Rhodes Scholar who was also a four star general is nearly always going to be a good choice.
Barak Obama and those around him have been very, very smart, and they're where they are for a reason. The chances that Wesley Clark gets the offer AND accepts may not be that great, but whoever lands on the ticket will be a smart choice.
John Edwards was a good choice in 2004 in my opinion. The problem was at the top of the ticket in my view.
Then, back in 2000, Al Gore picking Joe Lieberman really doesn't make much sense with the benefit of a 2008 perspective. Gore didn't need help in New England. If he'd had a running mate that could have nailed down -- say FLORIDA -- things might have played out differently.
Barak Obama is unique among Democrats, because he wants the job, he's smart enough to handle the job AND he's smart enough to get himself ELECTED to office. That's Change I can believe in!!

overwhelming Obama's position like a Nunn would do and actually make Obama look weaker than he is in reality.
Clark should be seriously considered. I would just want to know if he can make certain states more competitive, like PA, OH, and MO 3 of our keys to winning.

Good for dems. The repugs are going to try and make it about Terra, which will be bad. All Obama has to do is say, "Hey, McCain, didn't you vote for that War that is costing America trillions of dollars?" everytime grandpa brings up terrorism.

Boy, I just don't know. He was pretty visible and consistent in his support for Hillary. He's probably on Obama's short list, but I just can't see him pulling a "Bill Richardson." He comes across as so loyal and measured. I could see him as Secretary of State or Defense which would also be acceptable and "forgivable" from Hill/Bill's point of view. Jim Webb should stay right where he is - that was such a hard fought contest.

I was really disappointed in his support for Hillary--but I can understand it--loyalty to his former Commander in Chief, Arkansas ties-- but Wes Clark is in spite of that--one of the brightest and capable people out there. And he knows the meaning of doing ones duty.
