Obama Camp Details Florida Kickoff Plans

Candidate will conduct three-day swing through the Sunshine State starting with a rally in Tampa the day after the Oregon primary next week.

He’ll also make a stop in Orlando Wednesday before traveling to South Florida Thursday and Friday.

Wouldn't it be cool if Obama had a surprise guest endorser at the Tampa rally, like he did in MI with JE. Paging Mr. Gore.

8. All to no avail. He isn't winning Florida, no matter what.
They should be campaigning in an actual battleground state in November.

13. I may disagree with you there...not that I know anything about Florida or anything,..
...but the State has changed. More transplanted Northerners than Native Floridians, most from the Northeast and upper Midwest, and a growing number of Hispanics, most from Puerto Rico. The second generation Cubans in South Florida are not the solid Republicans their parents are...and there are more of them. Despite a Republicatn Governor and Legislature, I don't think we need write off the state just yet. It isn't the Florida of 2000 or 2004... and the issues and candidates aren't the same either.

14. What's your problem? He's down by one measly point, according to the latest from Q.

How about you try to reel in your bitterness, eh.

17. Two other polls have him down more than 10 points.
Those seem to be closer to the reality on the ground.

15. I might be close - the Dems could get the Jewish vote, the black vote,
40% of the white vote, 10% of the Cuban vote.

OTOH, the Repubs would get 100% of the Diebold vote.

18. I believe part of the legislative deal that created the Florida Primary move,
also mandated a paper trail for all voting machines. It's just possible all the votes will be counted this time.

21. I hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it.
There hasn't been an honest election there since 2000 (and maybe before, but I wasn't paying attention before then). I see no reason for the republicans to allow one now, particularly when losing could mean seeing criminal prosecution of leaders and engineers of the 2000 coup.

The repukes have a LOT to lose and I believe they will pull out all the stops - so while the vote machines may be fixed, what about the voter lists? The assignment of machines to precincts? Intimidation of voters? The Diebold tabulators, that total the votes from the individual voting machines? There are plenty of tried and true ways to rig the vote besides using DREs.

(color me pessimistic)

I have been so impressed with the way he has run his campaign. He is becoming the powerhouse in the party that we only dreamed of. This is our time, Democrats. Obama has some serious skills and I am frequently in awe at his moves. What a ride this has been. :D

Obama coming to Tampa Bay

ObamafamuDetails to come, but Barack Obama is set to do some kind of public campaign event in Tampa Bay on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 21.

Coming the day after he's likely to win a majority of elected delegates in Oregon and Kentucky (and a potentially logical day for Hillary Clinton to exit), Obama's Tampa Bay stop is is part of a three-day campaign swing through Florida. It's the first time since August that the Illinois senator has been willing do campaign in Florida outside of private fundraisers.
