I was having a drink with a friend last night and Edwards as the AG came up.
We could not stop laughing with glee- it would be such sweet revenge on the Bush administration's criminal legacy. Before someone scrounged up a piece of paper and we started drawing exactly what it would look like to see Bush, Cheney, Rice, et al. performing in "A circus of fear and dispair" while shackled, we decided that if JE was the AG he would receive his own saddle as a new Horseman of the Apocalypse.

I'm really looking forward to that. All those corrupt bloated swine desperately climbing over each other to get away from his legal scythe and fairly shitting all over themselves as the word of law echoes all around them like the voice of the Metatron.

I could see C-Span going pay-per-view for that shit.

"And coming up on C-Span 1, Senate roll call. On C-Span 2, House votes continue. On C-Span 3, spech at the national press club. And on C-Span Payback, continued coverage of the sentencing of senior members of the former Bush Administration, live from Neuremberg."

7. First, he would have to purge the DOJ
And not just the obvious political appointments. For the last eight years, DOJ has been infested with hundreds of right-wing operatives, Federalist Society members, Opus Dei, and worse. They are at all levels of the bureaucracy. The new AG will spend a lot of time pulling knives out of his back. These fascists are not going to go away willingly. It will take a purge of Stalinist proportions to get them out.

9. I think the DoJ needs to break up any potential suicide pacts forming...
...between Rove, Rice, et al. Get them all in custody now to prevent their oxycontin & alcohol-fueled depression from causing self-harm!

Conyers is gunning for Rove and they know if they can get Rove the whole house of cards could be coming down soon.

10. no, NO and Hell, NO!
John Edwards is the only voice those of us below the poverty line have speaking for us.

We need him to continue speaking for us--not hidden in some cabinet office, where he can't speak out for JUSTICE FOR POOR FOLK!

There are plenty of people who would make a good AG.

Unfortunately, there aren't other people who are willing to take strong action on behalf of poor people.

We can't afford to lose him.

16. Getting rid of the criminals
WOULD help the poor - probably more than anything else. The criminals are the reason for poverty.

27. Au Contraire, Edwards as AG can fight for us against the Corps
He can enforce antitrust laws that have been ignored for thirty years, he can prosecute those that discriminate against others. He can clean out the scum that have infected the DOJ bureaucracy and thus lead to more justice in this country.
I applaud your concern over poverty, but I don't think it would be ignored by Edwards, even as AG, and this is my opinion as one who supported Edwards for Prez.

32. So can others.
You tell me why it MUST be the ONLY PERSON who is speaking out for poor people??

Would you bury Al Gore's environmentalism in some cabinet post now?????

Or is it just that poor people aren't high on anyone's priority list???

34. Being on the verge of poor myself, I can identify
Edwards is blessed with a keen legal mind and an eye on fighting for the underdog, as well as bringing an awareness about poverty into the national dialogue, which is sorely needed. In which direction would he have the greater effect? That is my question, I happen to think the answer is that he would have a much greater impact as AG.
I hope others will speak out for the poor too. We need many many more voices speaking for the poor. As for Al Gore? I wanted him for president , because his effect on global warming policy would be enormous, but he is not doing it. If Gore was to have a cabinet post, I would want him for Sec of the Interior or head of the EPA. That would allow him to make a sea change in our environmental policy.

Now, on another note, if you think I'm minimizing the poor AT ALL, then you are sorely mistaken. I've had to live in my car for months at a time before. I've had to feed myself on $2 a day. So if you're implying that, then you're lashing out at those on your side and that is wrong.

15. I love the idea...
...I mean, I really love it. But do we necessarily want an AG who'd have to recuse himself in any pursuit of the * Administration's crimes?

I dunno. I suppose that eight years of * will be quietly swept under the rug. The Bushies will walk, as does every former Administration.

23. That's not fair
I have always really liked John Edwards. I think both sides would like to have seen him give his endorsement when it stood to make more of an impact, but his choice to do so has in no way diminished my respect for him. He's a brilliant guy, and he's sincere in his desire to change the status quo. I think there are a number of cabinet appointments he could be offered in which he could make a tremendous impact, regardless of who actually wins the nomination.

35. My dream....
January, 2009,

All the internation news media broadcast the inauguration of President Barak Obama... the crowds in D.C. are record breaking despite the bitter cold sunshine.
After the swearing in (on a BIBLE!) the soaring speech, the tears, the roar of the crowds..
The choir in attendance swings into "Lift Every Voice and Sing..."

And the television broadcast is split screen: federal marshalls take into custody the entire Bush regime: W., Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, et al...
their shameful perp walk while handcuffed.. while the choir sings in the background.. a Michael Moore movie couldn't frame it as well.

The wheels of justice grind slowly... but surely..
and a new day dawns.
