Hillary wants to campaign with Barack
5/19/2008

While Obama Camp Moves to End Campaign Before South Dakotans Voices are Heard, Clinton Campaign Accepts McGovern Proposal

Last Tuesday, Senator McGovern laid out a proposal for concluding the primary process that included joint appearances and party-building efforts by Senator Clinton and Senator Obama in the remaining primary states. At the time, Senator Daschle indicated that the Obama campaign had "interest in joint appearances."

The Clinton campaign today released the following statement from state director Geoff Wetrosky on Senator McGovern’s proposal:

"The Clinton campaign in South Dakota believes Senator McGovern’s proposal is in the best interests of both the party and the nation.

Given the disturbing reports that the Obama camp intends to unilaterally declare this process over before June 3, Senator McGovern should be commended for fighting to ensure that thousands of South Dakota voters get to have their say.

With only a few states remaining, we believe this is a workable proposal that will greatly benefit the citizens of South Dakota. Hillary has already visited the state twice to discuss her plan to invest in alternative energy and her rural agenda, and she is expected to return; we would welcome a joint appearance where both candidates discuss their plans for South Dakota.

In short: we accept. Given Senator Daschle's comments at the time and Senator Johnson's declaration that the primary should continue through June 3, we hope Senator Obama will join us."

1. No. She's trying to glom onto him and it's not going to work.
Does she want to see what a crowd looks like or something?

15. She's trying to grab a free ride on his coat-tails....
She road on Bill's coat-tails until she wore him out, now she thinks it's Obama's turn to prop her up.

No. Hillary. Ever.

She is bad news, poison and divisiveness oozes from her lips, and she would stab him in the back at the first opportunity.

19. Let's be fair. She doesn't have the money to pay her own way.

The last words I'd EVER expect to hear from Hillary are "Dutch treat" or "Here, I'll get the tab."

38. Her entire campaign hs been a parade of ironies ...
... spinkled with hypocrisy, deceit, and projection. She's one of the LEAST feminist "feminists" I've seen of her (and my) generation that's not a registered Republican conservative. I had my fill of such folks ... expecting to have doors opened, chairs pulled out, tabs paid, and be exempt from the draft (good-bye, fella ... let's see who I can find) - and playing melodrama 'victim' at the same time. Happily, I became more aware of the individual diversity and was able to find kinship with real feminists and people working for true social justice, both in the workplace and in politics. Just as MY crotch doesn't rule my morality and ethics, neither does a woman's. We make choices. Hillary's choices have been crappy.

44. Great post! So true. It's the duplicity of playing victim while...
...courting chauvinistic protections (Bill Clinton saying "I guess their beating up on a girl now") that turn my stomach.

But look at all of the women who support her! My God, is that what our nation is full of? No wonder Limbaugh spews about feminists.

She has turned back the clock on femimism with her campaign tactics. She makes us all look bad.

BTW, "parade of ironies" is going to be a new favorite phrase for me.

45. How does one benefit by glomming onto the coattails of your opponent?
It is a race - there aren't any prizes for finishing second.

It's a good idea. It is good for the party.

27. Republican contests have still continued for two months, those votes are being tallied
Just saying, those people are not being disenfranchised.

Barack should not feel the need to campaign with Clinton if he doesn't feel it's in HIS best interest. If he thinks it's in HIS best interest and in the PARTY'S best interest then so be it.... but Clinton doesn't get to dictate his schedule.

this is another free publicity gimmick like the "debate" bullshit she was begging for.
How many other candidates--say, Edwards, Biden, Kucinich--had "joint appearances"? What a crock of shit!
And she'd love to give the impression that they are a "joint ticket."

NO, NO, a thousand times NO!!!! :puke:

"Disturbing reports" that Obama will declare victory before June 3--of all the nerve! He'll have EVERY right to declare victory WHENEVER he gets to 2025 delegates, because he WILL have won! When a sports team clinches a division championship or playoff berth the before regular season ends, the regular season DOESN'T end, does it???

24. So
That sounds like a good idea. Just as soon as she concedes and endorses him, then going and doing joint appearances would seem fully apropos.

Until then, why don't they keep campaigning for themselves? As they campaign separately, that means just that many more people who will get to attend and perhaps even meet and be excited by a democratic message. Thats a good thing, right? Plus, as they pay their bills, thats a little boost to local economies. Better more in person stuff than more TV ad's.

As I looked at the quoted text, I also had another thought. We've had 20 odd debates, I don't think another one, no matter how subtly phrased, is necessary or particularly useful.
