Obama Just Gained 7 Super Delegates and Clinton Just Lost 1
The Pelosi Club number has been reached.

This means Obama just gained 7 of the Super Delegates known to give their endorsement to the candidate who will earn the majority of the delegates. Clinton just lost one.

For details: http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/03/superdelegates-pledging-to-back.html

Numbers as they stand NOW: just before Oregon: Clinton 1753 to Obama 1938 (numbers include Pelosi Club SDs). Obama only needs 93 to reach 2025. Clinton needs 269.

1. I'll feel better when they come out and make a public endorsement
Politicians have been known to go back on their word from time to time.

2. They already have made it clear who will get their vote: the candidate who wins the majority of PDs

3. Not so fast
Jimmy Carter -- "And I think that many super-delegates who have not yet declared their preference have the same feeling that I do, including the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. She’s said over and over that whoever gets the most delegates by June 3rd ought to be the nominee."

With Michigan and Florida in doubt, I think this will go through June 3rd.

5. No one is going to count MI and FL delegates in the 2025 number. The DNC has already stated this.

7. UPDATE: Obama Clinches the Delegate Majority, Including Most FL&MI Scenarios
http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/05/obama-clinches-non-mifl-pledged.html

Option 1: No FL & MI: Pledged Delegate Majority (PDM) Clinched with the Oregon polls closed.
Option 2: Seat MI as 69-59. PDM Clinched with the Oregon polls closed.
Option 3: Seat FL with 1/2 votes (supers get full vote). No Michigan delegates. PDM Clinched with the Oregon polls closed.
Option 4: FL 1/2 vote, MI 69-59 split. PDM Clinched with the Oregon polls closed.
Option 5: Seat FL & MI based on the elections that have taken place. Not clinched tonight.
