Superdelegates now is the time. |
|
I could understand going till PA
I could understand going till yesterday
I could sort of understand going till June 3
But now with Clinton indicating that she will go to the convention. Is is now YOUR job to preserve the party.
That is right it is YOUR JOB!!!
If you are going to sit on your asses while Clinton destroys the party by taking this to the convention on some bullcrap platform that democrats betrayed FL and MI...
Yes I SAID it. If this goes to the convention democrats will NOT heal before November and if we can't heal before November. McCain is the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES. And if we can't win the president over McBush there is no such thing as a democratic party of a 2 party system.
I am unwilling to support cowards unwilling to act when it is Obvious what is going on. So undecided supers and Pelosi. If you are going to let this process "Run it's course" then I mise well let things "Run its Course" And start working on letters to McCain asking him not to take away whats left of our civil liberties or send men to die in Iran. Because I am not going to hold the weight of the GE along with the rest of the serious democrats while you sit on your asses wondering if endorsing and ending this maddness may empower a challenger come next reelection.
You know what? You are going to be called sexist pigs! DEAL WITH IT!
You know what? You are going to have protests from Clinton Supporters! IT HAPPENS!!
You know what? There is going to be hell to pay!
And you know what? That is NOTHING compared to a McCain win...
CHOOSE YOUR SIDE!!

4. My trust in the democratic party is not fully gone yet. |
|
I still think Pelosi and the others are going to work up the courage and just do it now.
However, If they can't then there are better things to do in life. Why do I need to go through the process of losing in the GE when I can be visiting family and writing books?

I had trusted Clinton to run it clean until convention, but Bill had some hateful words today. I have no idea what they want out of this.

15. Taking it to convention - in and of itself - isn't necessarily a bad thing. |
|
Ron Paul is taking it to convention and McCain's not even breaking a sweat. Well, he always is, but not for that reason.
But if that delay gives the Clintons the microphone for two more months, yes, the damage will be bad. I thought for a moment they were staging a double-team against McCain, but today they made it clear that they don't care about November - or anything beyond here and now.

23. I can't be the only one finding the irony in Obama supporters calling on SDs to end the race. |
|
I'm supporting Obama, but certainly there's classier ways to end this than with a backroom deal cut among the "same old Washington names" who comprise the supers.

36. There's no backroom deal necessary when you have the *pledged delegate majority* |
|
Edited on Thu May-22-08 04:00 AM by CakeGrrl
They'd endorse according to the winning metric. Popular vote is a specious claim since there's no true and accurate measure.
ALL candidates understood at the outset that the delegate 'magic number' wins the nomination.
Nothing holds the "Pelosi Club" SDs from declaring for Obama right now...or any of them for that matter.
What about MI/FL? The only way Clinton can even try to overtake Obama in PDs is to have invalid primaries seated as-is, and that will not happen. Any compromise will not give her a delegate lead.
The incentive for the SDs to speed this up is that the Clintons have become loose cannons with microphones, spewing divisive rhetoric and making blatantly false accusations against the DNC regarding MI/FL. If they could be trusted to run a clean campaign without badmouthing what is supposed to be their own party, things would be different. But no. They've gone scorched earth.

They are cowards and yes I also Blame Pelosi.
If they wait till June 4 it WILL NOT MATTER because once Clinton files an Appeal.. Its over.. It goes to the convention...

They may still have some backbone.
However, If they want to put their reelection ahead of the party then they can go screw themselves and they can endure the heartbreak of McCain winning without me.

We just need Pelosi to do it. If Pelosi endorses the chances are good that Obama can get the 80-90 to seal this before the 31st.

She is really ill and will stop at nothing.
As a woman I am ashamed at the way that she has conducted her campaign.
As a Democrat I am ashamed and downhearted that a President and his Wife would turn against their party.
There are no words to describe my disappointment.
She acts like she is going through the "terrible twos" or a "teenager going through the crazy stage."
She will stop at nothing.
A promise to unite means nothing to her. A debt owed to people that are still waiting, after many months, for their checks means nothing.

37. Many SDs have said they will endorse after the last primary |
|
and before the convention. If Obama has enough of these endorsements (which he almost assuredly will) it won't matter if Hillary wants to take it to the convention. That's the beauty of the superdelegate system. After the primaries are over, they can shut down Hillary's campaign in one fell swoop. Superdelegates are what's keeping Hillary from continuing her negative personal attacks on Obama.

And if you think Clinton is going to be shut down afterwards you need to do more political research.
If it goes to the Convention we are toast.
