FL AND MI MOVE GENERAL ELECTION DATES! |
|
Edited on Thu May-22-08 02:53 PM by nvme
In light of the argument put forward by Clinton, it would be ok for Florida and Michigan to move their GE dates as well. Of course she would only protest if she had her name on both ballots and after she lost so many states. It is offensive to even suggest that any candidate benefit from a state Violating campaign rules or laws. It insults the intelligence of anyone who is able to vote. It is a cause for outrage for those of us who were betrayed by our respective legislatures. Clinton injecting herself in a states rights issue and does not bode well. THIS WIN AT ALL COST APPROACH HAS HURT OUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY FAR BEYOND THIS ELECTION. The longer Clinton continues on this graceless rant, the longer it takes Americans to heal from this caustic battle. He golden chance of bowing with the demeanor fitting of a senator and former first lady is dwindling. She is treading dangerously close to pariah territory. Mark the face of pure ugly ambition; it has a voracious appetite that will not be stilled until it consumes itself.

2. LOL. I am old, please forgive my failing memory, but did HRC fight so hard in FL in 2000? |
|
I don't seem to recall her being such a belligerent err, diligent champion rushing to protect the rights of each and every voter back then.

Hadn't thought of that one.
She's 100% focusing on HERSELF right now. No one matters but Hillabee.
And pariah is the right word. I live in VT, just across the lake from upstate NY and I plan on volunteering a lot of my time to whatever Democrat challenges her in the primary for her Senate seat.

The Democratic party sets parameter of acceptable dates for the primary elections. The states refused to follow the party. The party warned florida through out 07' about coming into compliance. The party offered to help with everything so long as they set a plan in motion. December was when the Party finally said enough either comply or lose your votes.

11. The issue is not whether or not to seat |
|
It is whether it is contemptable to the party is unfairly disenfranchising voters and whether either candidate should benefit from a states violating party rules. One must also consider each state that violated party rules had ample time to resolve the conflict with the support of the DNC itself. Finally all remaining candidates gave a pledge that the rogue states votes would not count and they would not campaign.

14. how is it abdicating the constitution? |
|
I am only pointing out the fallacy of Clinton's argument(of fighting against disenfranchisement) with regard to the DNC penalizing FL and MI for violating the primary schedule.

16. as I recall article 2 section 1 of the constitution |
|
Deals with congress and electors . that the electors send their votes to senate and if tied then the house of rep selects the pres. congress sets the dates of the election. If the part about congress is what you are refering to then it fits my hypothetical to a tee. I am comparing the DNC (the who sets the dates and standards for the Primary election) to the congress (Who sets the dates and standards for the General Election). If you faollow it further then rogues states would not have had a legitimate election and therefore no one should profit. If there is something I missed I welcome input.
