I feel like he was kind of cheated out of recognition of his big win in Oregon and how well he did with white voters in all income categories because the polls closed so late. So they spent 4 hours discussing how poorly he did in Kentucky and not much time talking about how well he did with some of the same demographic groups in Oregon.

We Oregonians, finally had a chance to say who the nominee should be, and a big thanks to all my fellow supports that went out canvassing, calling, registering new dems. Our efforts paid off, and the reward is a new future for our country!

7. All votes are counted? |
|
I can re-register as an Independent now. I finally got to vote in a primary because I registered Dem for this, but I don't believe Oregon will ever participate in a primary again. :(

10. I'm especially proud of southwestern Oregon. |
|
This map of the 2004 general election shows that we were not exactly and hot bed of progressive activism. I think we are witnessing real change. Even the northeast counties are quite surprising. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/OR/P/00/map.html

15. We've got to move Douglas & Coos |
|
I know logging makes it hard to get them in the GE, but I think we should be able to move some of them because of the salmon. And, Merkley is from Roseburg so I think that gives us a real opportunity against Smith and a chance to get some folks to listen to the Dem message. And, look at northeastern Oregon, what the hell happened up there, that's amazing!!

16. I'm particularly surprised by the northeast Oregon vote for Obama - LaGrange, etc. |
|
It sure doesn't surprise me that Umatilla went with Rush ... but Obama's strength in the northeast is heartening.

18. That map REALLY distorts Hillary's performance. It wasn't that close |
|
Edited on Fri May-23-08 10:27 AM by swishyfeet
If you look at all the light blue areas, she won those by a total of about 3,400 votes. Douglass county is colored wrong.
Little Benton County (home of the Beavers) more than made up for that.

Obama swept the populous I-5 corridor from California to Washington. Aren't we awesome?
