That flag was changed to 50 stars when Hawaii and Alaska became states.

But now with Florida and Michigan not counted we will need to go back to the 48 state flag.

Even if both Florida and the Soviet Michigan elections were seated as is, Clinton STILL LOSES. At this point, it's just to try and undermine Obama's legitimacy.

"So from my perspective, you get up every day and you get out there and you make your case and you reach as many people as possible. That's what I intend to do, so I'm in it for the long run. It's not a very long run. It'll be over by February 5th."-Hillary Clinton

39. BRAVO!!!! Hey, here in California, we moved our primary, too. But We. Followed. The. RULES.
Why couldn't they? Ego? They thought it was unfair to them? How about the California primary formerly being one of the last (it used to be held in June)? We're bigger than Michigan and Florida, and because our population is so much bigger (along with our electoral college votes and our Congressional delegation), WE stand to be far more directly and intensely impacted by ANYTHING that's decided in Washington - and we played by the rules.

It IS unfair to the other 48 states - especially those that moved their primaries up - only as far as early February. And if we solve this problem so that, after willfully breaking the rules, Florida and Michigan still get seated fully and completely (as though nothing had happened), what will that say to other states in four years - figuring that they, too, can flout the rules and there will be no consequences?

I mean, haven't we had just about enough of the no-consequences part? Haven't we just about ridden that one straight down into Hell?

I apologize. I'll probably get flamed. But I have no sympathy for these people. They knew, up front, what would happen. The rules and the consequences for breaking them were clearly spelled out. (I have learned much about this from our own DUer madfloridian.) And they went ahead anyway. What's to be made of that? Does that make ANY difference at all?

30. In Clinton's own words
As the only top tier Democrat remaining on Michigan ballot, Clinton is all but guaranteed to win the state's primary. Michigan is tentatively slated to send 156 delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention, but national party officials have threatened to take away those delegates if the state persists in holding its primary on Jan. 15.

"It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything," Clinton said Thursday during an interview on New Hampshire Public Radio's call-in program, "The Exchange." "But I just personally did not want to set up a situation where the Republicans are going to be campaigning between now and whenever, and then after the nomination, we have to go in and repair the damage to be ready to win Michigan in 2008."

40. Technically thats two issues you cover with your question
1) The DNC stripped them of their delegates for timing violations.

2) The candidates then signed a pledge not campaign there.

The candidates were not involved in metering out the punishment.
(If anything, Hillary prob had the most high profile backers among the ones that took the decision.)

Unless you talk to Hillary's campaign. If we go by H=her, we would have to have a 35 star flag. Or, depending on when you asked, a 33 star flag, given her previous statements on FL and MI.

This is not a game that anyone wins.

- ALL members of the democratic Party must be guaranteed full and equal access to the nominating process.

Just as Congress and state legislatures cannot make any laws that violate their constitutions, so also the DNC cannot make rules violative of the Democratic Party Charter.
