Do you support equal rights for everyone?
At one point that would have been a silly question to ask here at DU because everyone seemed to agree that everyone, women, the GLBT community, African Americans, Hispanics, etc... deserve to be treated equally, but not anymore.

Today it all seems to be about fighting each other over whether the black man or the white woman should be president because "it's our turn".

I keep reading the disgusting right wing hit pieces against Democrats and the responses that cheer them on or cry foul depending on who it's about and I get physically sick. Then I read the "Goodbye Cruel World" posts and get a little sicker because these were once people who actually supported Democratic ideas - not just "I need to see a or else I'm voting republican" posters.

What happened to us to make so many willing to abandon their beliefs for the sake of having someone with a certain physical appearance in the white house? Better yet, what happened to cause so many DUers to be willing to turn into repubs, just to get back on "those hateful Democrats who wouldn't nominate my candidate"?

You know, I don't care if you're upset about McClurkingate, Snipergate, Bittergate, Assassingate, Fingergate, or Whiteworkergate. I don't give a Damn if you think Obama is an empty suit and the Anti-Christ or that Hillary is a rabid racist who'd advocating Obama's assassination because if you believe any of these things you're not only wrong, but moronically wrong.

We need a Democrat in the white house come next year to try and fix some of the incredible problems created by the bush* administration. We need someone to restore Habeas Corpus. We need someone who will stop illegally wiretapping our phones. We need someone who will stop the mass slaughter of innocent people that is the Iraq War. We need someone who will not call us perverts and freaks. We need someone who will respect us as people.

And yes, we need someone who will work to bring ALL OF US the rights that a free nation should provide.

It's your choice to whine and moan that your candidate - the finest human being to ever walk the earth - didn't get the nomination, or to suck it up and start working for the remaining candidate who will work their ass off to make sure that your life and the lives of your family are better than they have been.

Either start helping the rest of us work to elect a president who will actually be on your side, or get the Hell out of the way and let the grown ups get the job done.

So again, Do you support equal rights for everyone - or not?

2. Everyone except Bears
They are the biggest threat to this nation. I don't even know why they are allowed to vote.

3. Hey, Man.
I'm a Democrat no matter who gets in there--Obama or Hillary. Right now it appears Barack is going to be it; if he is then so be it! :headbang:

9. Indeed I do.
That said, I think that some among us in the liberal/progressive community tend to confuse equal rights with equal outcomes in the game of life.

11. Yeppers on that one.
Anti-bear sentiment not withstanding - the amazing thing about dancing bears is not how well they dance but the fact that they dance at all.

Democratic bears can dance, Republican bears can't.
