Hillary has spent well over twice as much money as any failed primary candidate in history, plus
she has the most recent past Democratic president (who remains popular) campaigning for her in the primary in a way that is entirely unprecedented in history (Bush didn't push his halfwit son with even one quarter of the fanaticism that Bill employs to push Hillary), and much of the DNC structure and membership is personally indebted to the Clintons in a way and to a degree that is unique.

After Hillary die-hards spent all of 2007 assuring us that she could not possible lose because she was totally inevitable, why do Hillary die-hards now feign shock that the primary's popular vote remains somewhat close?

1. Bush 41 called his son "This boy" in one speech and they quickly put him out to pasture
Granted, Bush 41 didn't have nearly the popularity in his party that Clinton had in his, but he certainly had pull with all the important powers. And he probably did play a role behind the scene.

But there has never been an ex president in history used in this way during a primary.

4. She was certainly the prohibitive favorite as recently as 6 months ago. What an historic collapse!
