Willie Brown on MSNBC just now is and idiot |
|
It's not that I disagree with his position, its just that he doesn't understand the facts.
He said FL should not be punished by not seating full delegates because the dems had no control over when the primary was, it was all in the hands of the GOP.
Now, you'll remember, as I do, this argument was being pushed a few months ago but we've not heard it recently because it has been debunked.
1. Almost all the dems voted for it, had the dems NOT voted for it they might have an argument.
MORE IMPORTANTLY
2. The dem party rules say, if you have no control over when the primary is set but you, as the dem party in that state make A GOOD FAITH EFFORT to stop the primary being set outside the rules, you get a pass.
The dem party did NOT make a good faith effort to stop the GOP setting the primary too early.
Brown didn't know it.
Either he should not be a politician if he's not going to be better informed or I should get a life and stay off the computer.

the republican controlled legislature in Florida attached it to a bill to ensure paper ballots - the dems were over a barrel.

3. And if it was indeed the party heads who did this, punish them and don't seat the superdelegates.. |
|
...but count the votes...that's only fair. But wait, that helps Hilary, and anything that helps Hilary is inherently unfair. just as anything that shows people voted for her is inherently racist. Sorry.

11. that would work for me, on one condition. You had made THAT rule before the vote. |
|
My beef is that the voters of the whole nation were told FL and MI would not count. I have friends in both places who did not vote because...they were told their votes would not count.
What about them?
It doesn't seem fair to me that the people who said "fuck the party, fuck the rules" might end up deciding who the nominee is when I followed the rules (which seemed reasonable to me, and the Hillary at the time) and my vote will not count for as much.
The vote in FL and MI was much depressed, lower than any other state this year.
It's wrong
It's unethical.
If Hillary wins by unethical means, that makes us just like them and she will lose in November.

4. so the democratic party in florida had no intention of moving up the primary date? |
|
As in they signaled to dean "hey, we dont want to move the primary up, but its going to be moved up anyways, so its not our fault."

5. No they weren't. It would have passed anyway. |
|
So the GOP would have said the Florida Dems were against paper ballots. And the Floida Dems could have justifiably said they're lying. End of story.
