What you just saw on SNL was this:
McCain taking the first step toward rebuilding the lost perception among some that he's a man of good humor and loved by the press.

He knows it's over.

If there was even the slightest chance of winning -- if his internal polls showed that this was even close -- he'd be barnstorming through the battleground states non-stop, NOT taking time to go to NYC to appear on SNL.

I think it's that simple.

1. Yup. A de facto concession. (And pointing the finger of blame, too)

4. Right. Or at least standing by as it was done. Now the message goes forth.

12. Which proves once again what a turncoat he is. Not a maverick but a jerk.

But it'll turn out like Palin's appearance - not something that will help sway voters.

5. I saw him throwing Palin beneath the wheels of his bus
and backing up over her again and again.

11. I should have watched
I thought his SNL appearances from a couple of years ago were pretty funny...hey Johnny, maybe they can make you a permanent cast member with the creepy husband skit when you lose the election.

hehe...anyone look at the freeper reaction yet?

13. I saw a man who took aim and sank
what shreds of honor from a long life of public service might have remained after his dreadful hateful campaign.

How utterly demeaning and desperate for him. He KNEW what the Palin jokes were going to be and went along with them fully.

I lost all respect for him long ago - if I had any left, this pitiful stab at electorate connecting would obliterate the rest of it.
