Oh, Noes! Chuck Todd is vewwwy worried!
Chuck Todd said on MTP that he is very worried if Obama wins and a whole bunch of new Senators and House Representatives are elected!

Oh, noes!

He's worried because Obama will be sooooo new and not know what to do, and then all those newbies in Congress won't know what to do, either!

OH, NOES!!!!! Chuckie is vewwy, vewwy worried!

19. Me too!
1. Ban private ownership of all weapons (hopefully there will be a *lot* of "cold dead hands" from which to pry the weapons).
2. Tell any church or tax exempt organization that if they make ANY political statements, they will be subject to current and ALL back taxes (that should scare the catholic church).
3. Arrest and detain some 20 million evangelical citizens and send them to those FEMA "re-education" camps.
4. Ban Fox news, and restore the fairness doctrine, eliminate (preferably by firing squad) prominent wing nut talk radio idiots.
5. Institute a 100% estate tax.
6. Institute a 80% income tax on any individual earning more than $200K a year, including capital gains.
7. Cut defense spending by 50%.
8. Nationalize the banks, start shooting the bank executives as "looters".
9. Nationalize the insurance companies, create a new government run health care system.
10. Ban more drilling and/or coal mining, invest heavily in renewables (something like $1.6 T).

There, is that "socialist" enough? A bit over the top?

Ok, sorry, I've just had it with the stupid people running things for so long. Got to vent a little.

Alternatively, use this opportunity to invite all Repukes and fundie xians to move to either Alaska or the deep south (and invite all progressives and fair minded people to move from those places to the rest of the US. Then pretend that the South won the civil war and that we never purchased Alaska. Alaska can be a new country and Palin can be their "president", and the south can be the redneck racists bible thumpers they always aspired to be (without any military of course).

I need to include this.... :sarcasm:

27. you missed the :sarcasm: tag
I'm guessing here.

I always add the tag just to make sure that folks "get it".

But sometimes, even with the tag, they don't.

Sigh.

(My list is straight from freeperville central on what they "expect" from President Obama)

c'mon, you Know you meant those things :)

I recall in the 70's a great song, "Up Against The Wall Redneck Mothers" by the New Riders of The Purple Sage that seems oddly appropriate in a way now :)

Congress is all Dems and the President is a Dem??? The sky
will fall! Give me a friggin' break, they weren't worried
about unchecked government in 2000.

today and tomorrow. He doesn't think strategically. He doesn't surround himself with smart people.

This is a serious concern.

21. Yes, why can't Obama be more like John McCain? Such steady leadership
If, by "steady leadership," you mean lurching erratically from failed attempt to failed attempt.

10. Most of the people on this thread completely missed Todd's very valid point.
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 12:07 PM by Shakespeare
To voice concern about the learning curve of an unprecedented number of new senators is completely legitimate, and has nothing to do with the party the new legislator belongs to.

The key word here is unprecedented. There will be a huge number of new senators who will need mentoring from veteran senators, and that's something that will need a great deal of attention.

Edited to add: Todd's point, which was apparently missed in the explosion of reactionary ignorance here, is that the likely learning curve may slow down Obama's enormous mountain of work. Current democratic senate leaders/senior senators need to be ready to step in and work their asses off to make sure that doesn't happen.

11. Yeah we better retreat to safety and hand the govt back to the party of Bush
that launched two ill-considered and illegal wars which rage on years after their beginnings, dragging our country inexorably into bankruptcy, that destroyed practically every civil liberties protection provided by our Constitution, that subverted the Constitutional separation of powers, and that wound up Bush's last term presiding over the utter ruin of the country's financial system.

Yeah, that would be the smart choice here. Thanks for the heads up, Chuck.

Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 12:06 PM by iamthebandfanman
yet they are worried about obama because he doesnt have 'experience'

id like to know what experience obama lacks? the experience of being corrupted and only helping out your buddies and their friends?
or maybe its the experience that comes from being a complete fuck up and running multiple businesses into the ground before running for office? is the experience he lacks the fact he wasnt raised by a rich mommy and daddy and given anything he wanted his entire life?

please, how dare they suggest obama is not fit to lead after the last 8 years of this half brained nitwit thats in office.

His Republican friends have screwed up royally. A freshman Democrat is better than a seasoned Repuke any day of the week.

20. The framers of the Constitution weren't worried
They set things up so that no more than one-third of the Senate comes up for election each time, so there's never a majority of newbies on the job.

And while all representatives come up for re-election every two years, even in the best possible turnout for Dems, there'll still be plenty of old hands around who know the ropes.

24. It's a lot of responsibility that could prove damaging in the long run
I am not saying I am totally against the idea but with one party in power any mistake is 100% their fault. Let's face it, we're not exactly inheriting the best of times and there's going to be sacrifices that many will disagree with (would be that way from either side IMO) and it could very well give the republicans a lot of ammunition in 2012.
