Which states will go most strongly for McCain? |
|
Not to copycat Cali, but I've been wondering about this for quite some time. With all that's been said and done during the last eight years and during this campaign for anyone to still vote for McCain would have to be a core gop voter no matter what.

6. Not so much core GOP but deeply alienated culturally from the Democratic Party |
|
Utah, Idaho, Oklahoma, Wyoming will give McCain his greatest margins. Three of these state have very high Mormon populations.
Alabama is likely the southern state with the biggest McCain margin.

Alabama and Mississippi have large African-American communities, which will keep Obama's numbers up at a certain level. UT and ID, on the other hand, are almost entirely white and filled to the brim with right wingers. Idaho in particular has become something of a political freak magnet for wingers.

Given that, from my own recollections, Alabama and Mississippi have large black populations in the urban areas, what's the likelihood that these will factor into an Obama win? Put another way, how badly gerrymandered are the urban areas?
