I love his version. Here is another version by Sissel, a Norwegian girl. My mom had to leave her island in the north of norway as a young woman when the germans invaded. This song reminds me of her longing for that beautiful little island until she died. She was never able to return, but last summer I did. I brought back some of her island and buried it with her here in Minnesota.
