Love and Hope from Ireland
Okay everyone, it's 1.58 in the morning, time for some sleep! I'm not the best at praying, to be honest, but God, or whatever higher power is up there, won't get a minute's rest tonight because I'll be bombarding him with promises that I'll be good forever more if he sees to it that the United States and the rest of the world will be looked after by President Barack Obama come January. That's a fair deal, I'm sure he'll agree.

Any way, you're all truly, truly, amazing people, I know from reading your posts how much work, energy and hope you've invested in this campaign, from the bottom of my heart I pray that you get what you so deserve tomorrow, and that's an exceptional President you can be proud of. Barack Obama is magnificent, but it's people like you who have made it possible for his light to shine as brightly as it has done since he began running for the presidency, you should all be so proud of that. You're part of history.

To this day my elderly mother remains in love with JFK, she adored him - last night we watched a PBS documentary, shown on Irish television, about Obama (and McCain), and she said it was like watching history repeat. She has the same sense of awe when she watches this wonderful man from, like me, afar. She's not alone, most people in my corner of the world feel the same way. I can only guess how you all feel.

So, sleep well all of you, you'll need all the energy you can muster for tomorrow. Pray for Toot tonight - she won't miss her grandson being elected president, she'll be right by his side, and she'll watch his inauguration from the heavens above. Let these be tears of joy tomorrow. God bless you Barack Obama. Night everyone, talk tomorrow.

9. Thank you for your support!
Nothing but good, positive, and uplifting thoughts tomorrow. In a little over 24 hours, we will be saying "President-elect Obama." I know it. :)

By the way, I visited Ireland (my first trip outside of the USA) back in June, and I absolutely fell head over heels in love with your country. I spent most of my time in Dublin, with a side trip to Limerick and the Cliffs of Moher. What an amazingly beautiful and special place where you live! I absolutely cannot wait for another chance to visit!

:loveya: :hi:

10. That was such a wonderful post.
I was in Ireland many years ago, and as soon as the plane touched the ground in Dublin, I felt the connection between our people and yours. I consider the two weeks I spent there among the best of my life. I fell in love with the Irish people and I hope to go back one day. I felt so "at home" there. Thanks again for that heartfelt post.

Thank you so much for your eloquent post. I feel as your dear mother does...the shades of JFK and hope.

Give her a hug from this granddaughter of Galway, please. Sleep well.

Tomorrow we'll smile while Toot turns to God and says:"See? I told you!"

What a beautiful post, Jackeen. Thank you for all YOU have contributed to this board... the words of encouragement, the uplifting videos and photos, and for standing in solidarity with us when we were outraged by the latest antics of the slime on the right.

Have a great night's sleep, my friend.

22. Wide awake, fired up, ready to go....well, ready to sit in front of my TV!
Thank you everyone for the really lovely replies last night, you are ASTOUNDINGLY brilliant people!

British and Irish TV keep showing those voting queues....I'm convinced 95% of those people are Obama supporters, they don't have that mean, nasty, vile, wizened, bitter, stupid look about them. Not that I'm biased.

23. Howdy, Ireland!!!! And thx for the well wishes!
BTW, I LOVE everything Irish. Many Americans can trace their roots back to Ireland. Unfortunately, not me. But for some reason, I LOVE everything Irish. Photos of the country, the music, the accents, the vivacious personalities of the Irish people. (Okay, the violence of the IRA and other groups was perplexing to me.)

So a big shout out to you across the ocean!!!!!

:hi: :loveya:
