HOLY CRAP! Obama has the 4-H vote locked up... |
|
My kids had a mock election at their meeting last night. The results were: McCain-5 Nader-1 and Obama-29
Keep in mind, most of these are rural and farm families.
Get a fork...it's done.

3. That's actually quite impressive, as children usually reflect their parents on these issue's. |

It's sort of an unwritten rule that if you farm in Iowa you vote Republican, and there's the added fact that I live in one of the reddest counties in Iowa. This speaks VOLUMES to me.

That is off the charts wonderful!!.. The 4-H pledge reflects the philosophy of the Democrats.. :hi:
The 4-H Pledge
I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,
my Heart to greater loyalty,
my Hands to larger service and
my Health to better living, for my club, my community,
my country, and my world.

This is my youngest's first year in 4-H (we don't have a "Clover Kids" in our county-they can't join until they are in fourth grade)and the first thing she did was memorize the pledge. She was so proud of herself.

pledge. Service. Our club was dedicated to service in the community. There is nothing like a good 4-H club, to get your young one involved with the community.
I am still close with my club, even after my son graduated out went to college. We made deep friendships there.. but the best thing, was always County Fair.
I always said, that was their time to shine, the 4-Hers owned the County Fair. If you are with a good supportive club, this is going to be one of the best times of your life.. Bar None!!
It really kept our son focused in the summer, especially during those middle years.. the 4-Hers were all about fair, and getting ready for it. I miss that part of it still
Good to see 4-H represented here in DU!!

10. Our kids are in arguably the best club in the county.... |
|
they are the largest and most active club in the area, and they are all about community projects. I'm so proud of them. And I know exactly what you mean about keeping the kids focused. My son (my middle child) has ADD and 4-H has not only helped him mature, but over the summer, when we typically would have problems, he is consumed with 4-H. He does quite well with his projects, which also gives him this incredible sense of accomplishment that we see carry over into the school year. The best decision we ever made as far as the kids were concerned, was to get them involved in 4-H.

11. That is what I always saw.. the committment of the kids |
|
involved and how it helped them outside the club in the rest of their life.
My son, used his 4-H years and his projects to look deeper into the field that he actually ended up going to college to study.
And it was not farm related.
It was the best decision we ever made also!!
And the experiences they get when they go to State. Amazing.
