and I've NEVER been more proud to be an American. Take that, you regressive haters.

EDIT: I am also straight, married, one child, regular job....so much for your categories, CNN, MSNBC, RNC, etc.

22. The divide is in your mind only...
Those who are bigoted and have racial prejudices... it's their problem.

I always love hearing those Hillary voters trying to give me a rational explanation on why they would vote for McCain when the bottomline is that they are just not voting for a black man, no way, no how.

Even when I tell them "come on, it's okay, you have the right to be racist, you know... you can admit it, I will accept it..." and they still won't do it. Like a child caught in the act and who still will lie about it.

23. I'm probably more of a Joseph P. Sixpack III.
I like that snobby elitist beer. The stuff that's dark brown to black and comes from England or some tiny brewery. So sure, typical liberal there.

10. same here!!!
I was born November 18th, 1968. I turn 40 in two weeks. I got married for the first time in 2007 and my first child, a son, was born in January. My wife is originally from China and our son was born there. He is an American citizen. I am proud that he was born in my wife's homeland in the year her former nation hosted the olympics. Now this. One day, I will sit down with my son and share with him what a historical this year truly was.

My wife and I homeschool our three children - I'm a 35 year old white Presbyterian minister in a rural parish - I am beyond words in my happiness and pride in and for America tonight.

November 4, 2008 - this is the real America; the continued perfecting of our Union.

For all the right-wing nut jobs today at the polling place at which my better half and I passed out sample ballots - there were a good number of overall'ed or camo'ed middle aged white dudes with gun racks and/or dog boxes in the back of their trucks who gave us a thumbs up!

The country is done with Atwater/Rove/Bush right-wing politics.

a new day.

33. You know how Barack said there wasn't a real America
and a fake America? Well, there are real and fake Christians. Thank you for being one of the real ones.

I have a brother in the South who is never without his Bible that spews his right wing hatred. And he used to be such a different person. Then there is my Mom, turned 86 on Monday, Dem her whole life and she actually reads the words in the book. A kinder person you cannot find. She taught me long ago to be blind to color and it has been one of my most important lessons in life.

Bless you.

38. Oh, Oregon
Every time I have to look at the blue/red map I wonder how I'm still here. I'm in K.C. which is a fairly liberal city. But, besides the wonderful places I've got to live in...Europe and Middle East etc., I wonder how I'm in this sea of red.

My father had a brother and three sisters. They all left (Tom Joad style) Oklahoma and now my family is divided between beautiful areas of L.A. and Lake Tahoe. And me in crummy Kansas....but OBAMA WON!

Yippee.:toast:

If the Obama Biden campaign works carefully with the Dem houses....and we as the grassroots Democrats help...we could see a successful first administration. That will translate to even more popularity and a landslide reelection.

40. Same here...
45, white, advanced degree, great white collar job, divorced with three kids.

But unlike my redneck "brethren", I believe in social justice. I believe that how we treat our least fortunate says an awful lot about us as people. And I believe that America is the land of opportunity for all people, not just people who look and think like me.

I think there is a lesson in there for Republicans to consider.

Once again, it was primarily DEMOCRATS and a progressive movement who dragged this country forward.

And we are prouder than we have ever been. And no, people were not this excited 4 years ago! Nothing like this and he knows it. And my take on the young people voting this year is that they wanted and did decide that they need to "change" what we as a people have allowed to happen to this country. It took them to add to our votes and elect this man who is intelligent and sincere, not just black. My husband and I voted for him because he was the absolute best person for this job!
