Does anyone remember DU four years ago tonight?
I downed a bottle of Moet in the mistaken belief that Kerry had won, and through my drunken haze was forced to accept that he hadn't...I posted all throughout this nightmare, long into the night, until I literally couldn't type anymore. I went to sleep hoping it was all a bad dream. But of course, it wasn't. I spent the next few MONTHS on some kind of elections results forum. It took me almost a year to recover.

All in all, I prefer this.

Good night, DU. Thanks for everything!
:loveya:

DU looked like...

Why all the gloating bugs me

We should be better than that, even if they are not gonna be

11. I agree..
It's now more than ever, especially since President Obama has made unity and healing the nation such a central issue.. Probably his main issue.

Now is a time of healing and coming together. We are America.. One America.

We were depressed. But we weren't INSANE.
And those folks are insane. They are terrified of the truth. I will never get that.

12. I cried so damn hard that night.
I didn't know if I should pack our things and high-tail it to Canada or smack my head off of a cement wall that night. We hung in there, though and I sure am glad because tonight I'm crying tears of joy!

I was the same way. I was depressed for a long time and it took my spouse to make me get out of bed the next day. This time around I didn't get too excited ...until now:bounce:

18. It was somber. It was painful. THIS is NOTHING like 2004.
I didn't follow the 2000 election closely but 2004 was personally heartbreaking. THIS IS AWESOME.

20. I do!
That was PAINFUL!

It's precisely what makes this all so hard to believe...but yeah. Election 2004 had its moments--like the "here is my real name, come and get me you fuckers" thread that went on for like 300 posts. But I will take this over that, any day. It's better now.

shudder,

The Plaid Adder

24. Yes I saved the thread where the day after we all revealed
our true names and said we were not afraid and that we would never give up.

I spent the day and the evening in Wenatchee, WA the biggest city near me where I worked in the obama office today and went to democrat party tonight. We laughed we cried we yelled. We are a minority in this town. It is 80% republican but many of them voted for Obama.

25. Oh yes. I referred to it earlier tonight as the Champagne Cork Masacre. It was ugly.
Words cannot express how happy I am tonight.. after having it ripped from our grasp twice before. 5 Million votes was way too big for the to screw with.
