Our new First Lady, Michelle Obama
There is no question that Michelle Obama was highly instrumental in her husband's win. Barack's campaign aids nicknamed her "The Closer."

She's brilliant, realistic, well grounded, and has a quiet elegance that's been compared to Jackie Kennedy. When Barack recently went back to visit his grandmother, Michelle appeared in his stead and nobody seemed one bit disappointed when she stepped on stage. They enthusiastically welcomed her.

I get the feeling that she and Barack are very close, that they talk, that they share the same goals. I suspect she's a sounding board for him.

I'm thinking about the qualities of our former First Ladies, and she seems to embrace several of those qualities. I think she's going to be a new type of First Lady. Laura Bush was way too much in the background for my taste. I think/hope we'll be seeing a lot more of Michelle.

Do you have any thoughts or predictions about what type of first lady she will be?

7. Did you watch her during his acceptance speech?
He would say something important and she was sitting up there in the bleachers nodding, like "that's right!" She helped me to trust him. I get the feeling if he ever steps out of line she smacks him right back in. lol!

She's a Harvard lawyer, like Barack. She is well-spoken and capable like Hillary Clinton, without being corporatist. Like Democratic women, she is equal and liberated (unlike Republican women, who seem stuck in pre-liberation ways).
