National Journal: Reid to meet with Lieberman by week's end |
|
(Subscription required) http://www.nationaljournal.com/congressdaily/cd_20081105_3259.phpFormer Democratic staffers have expressed skepticism Lieberman will be able to keep the chairmanship. According to one Reid aide, however, Reid has not made a decision one way or the other.

6. I'll believe it when it happens |
|
Call me skeptical, but anything relating to Reid I won't hold my breath. Knowing Reid, he'll probably give him a promotion (if that's even possible).

11. I agree ... IDEALLY ... |
|
I will be honest, I am just as happy that they didn't get that 60, so they felt compelled to kiss JoMentum's butt.
IDEALLY, Reid calls him out, takes his chair and puts him on notice that he can remain in the caucus as long as keeps his mouth shut, lets him know he might have a shot at some leadership position if he kisses butt HARD, and does A LOT to make it up.
He is in a bad way, the Rs will take him, but they owe him NOTHING, and he won't sniff a leadership position with them, they will low man him. He means nothing to them.
No reason to cut their noses off despite their face and kick him out, but they DO need to take his chair and leadership spots and school him.

10. He'll keep the chairmanship... |
|
Obama's not like Bush.. when he means "bipartisianship", HE MEANS IT.
I realize that this is Reids decision.. but I have a feeling Obama will ask that he allows Lieberman to retain the chairmanship.
If we want to keep this "gig" for more then 4 years.. we need to walk the talk. I realize it's not popular here.. but Obama was elected by quite a few republicans as well who are trusting him to unite the country.. not continue to divide it. Going after Lieberman does nothing but exact revenge.
Joe will have his own hell behind the scenes with fellow Democrats who will just look right through him as though he's not even there. For a guy like Lieberman.. that's worse then anything. And, exactly what he deserves.

13. I don't think that will happen. |
|
Obama helped campaign for Lieberman when he was being challenged by Lamont. How did Lieberman pay him back?
Is Obama a Marxist?
Lieberman: "That's a good question".
I don't think Obama will be making any calls in his favor. An actual Republican would be better.
