WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press is uncalling the Minnesota Senate race.

Republican Sen. Norm Coleman finished ahead of Democrat Al Franken early Wednesday in the final vote count, but his 571-vote margin falls within the state's mandatory recount law. That law requires a recount any time the margin between the top two candidates is less than one-half of one percent.

The AP called the race prematurely.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said the recount won't begin until mid-November at the earliest and will probably stretch into December. It will involve local election officials from around the state.

4. KPOJ just reported that there will be an automatic recount because
Coleman is only ahead by a few hundred votes.

5. CNN is currently showing Coleman 1,210,943 & Franken 1,210,371
Independent Barkley got 437,187 votes. I guess the runoff would just be between Coleman and Franken, right? And with Barkley out of the race that would benefit Franken, right?

6. There's no runoff provision.
Plurality wins. Just need to have one more vote than the other guy.

There will likely be a recount, however. It could get ugly.

7. I Think Franken Could Still Pull This Out!
VERY small margin with 3 million votes, and I don't see it as unreasonable whatsoever that Al can still take this thing!

Sucks we won't know till December though.
