I am a humble little canuck who watches closely american politics. I will admit - this is GWBush fault - for before his rule, politics were not that important to me.
You know - one thing that a person can actually thank George for.....it was to remind the public just how important and critical governance trully is. He failed so magnificently - that the critical need and desire for change became an overwhelming tidal wave that swept the nation. Obama wisely recognised this desperate need and with a flawless campaign, and inspiring oratorial skills, he will be the next president.
I don't envy the job he has been entrusted to do. And I have no delusions that in the next few months of his rule, that everything will just be peachykeen fine. Power never concedes without a fight - ever. Obama will face some daunting challenges - economic, foreign policy, two ongoing wars -the list is enough to turn my hair gray overnight just thinking about it.
But, you know it comes down to one thing - above all else. I am just so darned excited to see what he will do, who he will choose to help him, and the leadership skills that he possesses that is so refreshing after George.
Well done guys and gals. The new America begins Jan 20, 2009. May you find your vision, and fulfill your dream of being the shining city on the hill, where all things are possible.

into sponsoring me for immigration now.
I dunno about the City on a Hill stuff; I'd settle for just becoming a decent country that takes care of its own people like our neighbor to the north does, and like other parts of the civilized world do. Health care, pensions, etc.--you folks have a much better system than our corporate overlords have permitted us. Many things are possible for the common people when you don't have to support a bloated military force while simultaneously maintaining our parasitic super-wealthy overlords in sumptuous lifestyles.
