Who voted no to Proposition 2 in Florida? I did, and I am ashamed my state |
|
voted to institutionalize discrimination against GLBT people in the state. Even my mom voted for that and still doesn't understand why I voted against it. :(

1. I did too. My question to those who voted "Yes" is why? How would |
|
this vote to discriminate against civil rights impact your life? It won't in any way and that was my argument to others. Florida is at a minimum 20-30 years behind in more ways than I can enumerate here. I'm saddened for the GLBT people in my state, but look at it this way: They said a black man would never, ever be elected to POTUS...HA! The times, they are a changin'...This will be rectified in the future, I'm sure.

5. My hateful brother voted for it, this is what he wrote on FB: |
|
"Will is pleased that Florida at least had the moral sense to pass the 2nd amendment up for vote!"
My brother will rot in hell, and deservedly so.

A glimmer of hope perhaps.

6. 4 no votes in my household. |
|
My coworker who is normally very intelligent and liberal, was horrified when she realized she'd voted YES to an amendment she didn't fully understand. She knocked on doors for Obama, made phone calls for Obama, but got totally confused about this amendment. By the time it was explained to her, her absentee ballot was already in the mail.
I imagine there were many who didn't understand it. I'm not excusing it but that's what I believe happened in many cases.

9. I voted against defining marriage |
|
I am sad that it passed and I was arguing about it at work. I do not understand this human obsession with wanting to rule on other peoples lives, telling others what they should do.
One of my coworkers is a democrat and voted yes because of Social Security. She was concerned with people not getting married so they can still get their checks and because she does not approve of the gay lifestyle. I told her that they probably paid their SS and are paying taxes like everyone else; that why do I care what they do with their life? I asked her... so would you want a proposition to have gays not pay taxes? She looked like huh?? I said, Yeah... exactly... you would take their their money but not let them have the same rights as everyone.

to the state of Florida. If gays cannot be married, then we straights don't want to be either.

I have so many gay friends. It makes me sad. My mom is also a Democrat who voted Yes, for religious reasons. Ridiculous.
