They seem to be the most reasonable.

1. They can vote with dems on important issues they agree with regardless

4. The Senate Republicans are now a headless monster.
No way in hell they can get enough unanimity to make a filibuster work. Any moderately clever Majority Leader can put together legislation with enough sweeteners to pull a few Republican votes. The only real challenge will be holding the Dems together.

3. Most Maine DUers will tell you that Susan Collins is really pretty conservative.
The 'moderate' label is a ruse.

5. It will never happen. For either one.
Snow is the ME GOP. Her husband is the state's last GOP governor, and her constituent service operation is basically the same as the state party. She'll never flip.

Collins is also an apparatchik, just not as personable a one. She has the additional problem of being a smarmy careerist, and she'll stay in the party for no reason other than that the line's shorter on the GOP side than the Democratic side for woman senators.

6. They are my senators and they will never switch, (Even if they did they would have
changed nothing but the letter after their names, so what good would that do?) :)

7. I'd prefer them as independents.
There's really not a place for them in the GOP.
