3. You can submit your "ideas" for what they should "do". If you had a barackobama.com acct, they will
have your info, but you should still officially sign up for the site.
I wrote in that I hope Dr. Orszag from the Congressional Budget Office has a closer relationship with the Treasury Secretary and economic team during the economic crisis discussions.

5. I just submitted this (because nowhere under "Agenda" do I see
anything about civil rights for GLBT's:

Gentlemen--my warmest congratulations to President-Elect Obama on his great victory. I am a contributor, and a life-long Democrat, and I could not be happier.

I do want to say, regarding "The Agenda" portion of this web site: nowhere do I see, especially glaringly absent under "Civil Rights", anything about equal rights for Gays and Lesbians and their families. I'm not necessarily advocating on behalf of same-sex marriage, because at my age I understand that will still take a lot of convincing for people to accept. But we, the GLBT people of America, largely support President Obama because we believe at heart that he supports us and our rights to civil equality. I feel that it is incumbent upon the creators of this site to include something specifically about support for nationwide economic justice for those of whose relationships (mine is 22 years long) have been discriminated against. It's imperative that you understand this is not an issue merely of principle, but of economics. I have been in a stable monogamous and loving relationship for over 22 years, but if my partner dies, I cannot collect survivorship benefits under social security; we cannot file our taxes jointly; there are literally hundreds of economic benefits we're not entitled to that any straight married couple is. And that is not only unfair, it threatens our ability to keep our home, to provide for each other, and to be a part of our community. It's simply not acceptable. I know you agree with that.

In addition, in case you're not aware, according to the 2000 census, one-third of female same-sex households, and one-fifth of male same-sex households had children in them as well adults; so it's not just adults that are being discriminated against here, it's also children who are being victimized by this economic injustice.

Senator Biden said in the debate with Mrs. Palin that under an Obama administration, you would work to ensure that every American receives equal treatment due them under the US Constitution. I took this as a campaign promise, and moreover, an article of faith. I know it's something you both believe in. Please show me that by adding equal treatment for Gays and Lesbians to your Agenda, as expressed on this web site. It's a start.

Once again, my most heartfelt congratulations on your victory!

15. I signed up and sent this my vision, as I hope you all will on this issue
An American Moment: Your Vision
Start right now. Share your vision for what America can be, where President-Elect Obama should lead this country. Where should we start together?
http://www.change.gov/page/s/yourvision

What I wrote:

My Vision for this country is equality for ALL. I am beyond ecstatic that we broke through the racial divide and had such an historic election win, but so many American's were torn on election day. Happy for President Obama's win and our win, but saddened by 4 states changing their constitution to take away gay rights. We have not conquered civil rights until EVERYONE has equal rights. For too long religious groups have tried to inject their views into laws, yet we are supposed to have separation of church and state. The Right wing calls for "small government" except when it comes to involving said government into so many personal aspects of life (ie, abortion, same sex rights, marriage) Government should have nothing to do with such personal matters. You don't have to like the idea of same sex couples or abortion, but your view or anyone else's should have no barring on what personal choices people make in their lives. There was a time in this country when interracial marriage was illegal, but today we would never even think of such a ban, so why is this being done to our fellow gay americans. Why do they not deserve the same basic human rights we all have? Why in Arkansas are they now not even allowed to adopt children? The fear surrounding Same sex couples is astounding, the ads ran in defense of California's Prop 8 basically said if it didn't pass then their kids would be taught how to be gay in schools. I know President Obama and most democrats are no stranger to running against a platform of fear and lies, so I would hope that they would understand what an unfair and un-American law, banning same sex rights is. What I found ironic were the demographics of who vote to ban gay marriage, a large group were African americans, which baffles me, because of any group they know what it's like to be denied rights based on just being different. So why would they vote to take another groups rights away after fighting so hard to achieve their own? I Urge you President Obama to please address this CIVIL RIGHTS issue. I don't even see your stance in the civil rights section of this website, but don't be mistaken Gay rights ARE civil rights and these millions of americans deserve a voice too. Please be their voice and help dispel the ignorance and fear surrounding gay americans. They make up a large group who cast their votes for you and helped you win this election, and they deserve a president who will work hard to preserve their right to equality in this nation. Thank you for your time.
