(Since this would otherwise turn into a very lengthy list, I decided to limit myself to people who died within the confines of George W. Bush's 2nd term.)

10. Hunter S. Thompson

9. George Carlin

8. Studs Terkel

7. James Brown

6. Paul Newman

5. Richard Pryor

4. Kurt Vonegut

3. Yolanda King

2. Rosa Parks

1. Madelyn Dunham, AKA "Toot"

16. I'm going to be very selfish here and say my grandma, daddy and little sister..
Neither of them, especially my daddy, would EVER believe what just happened on November 4, 2008.

I'm sure they have an excellent view from where they are but I would love to share these moments with them next to me.

29. At the local
campaign headquarters, there was a 15-year old kid who was full of energy and who is intent upon learning more about democratic political history. My advice was simple: read as much Schlesinger as possible.

24. also Nina Simone
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 06:40 PM by stuntcat
She moved to France because she was sick of our government.

Two years before she died we went to see her in concert at the Kennedy Center. The only time she stood up from her piano during the show was to yell at everyone about president Bush, she said "Get him the fuck out of there!" and the crowd went wild! Except for one couple.. sitting on our side of the theater, they got up AND LEFT :wow: these people WALKED OUT out of a Nina Simone show.. just goes to show you what those people are.
