Anyone else think that Sarah Palin is going to go the way of Katherine Harris? |
|
Katherine Harris was the GOP golden girl and cause celebre after the 2000 fiasco. She was able to parlay that into a seat in Congress two years later. But as memories of 2000 faded away by the time she announced her run for Senate in 2006, the GOP began to realize that Harris was incredibly ditzy, inept, incompetent and off-balanced and all in all an embarrassment when Election Day rolled by. She lost in a landslide.
Right now, all the talk is about Palin running in 2012. But I really think as memories of the 2008 election fade, so will Palin's star. And like Harris, the GOP will sadly come to the realization that their empress has no $150,000 worth of clothes.

1. Sarah Palin is more telegenic that Katherine Harris. |
|
I don't know if Palin will get elected to a different office than governor.
But she could get better ratings on Fox News than some of their hosts.

6. I agree. She'll be happiest making a fortune on Fox. |
|
Be famous. Make a ton of money. Wear gorgeous clothes. That's what Sarah is about. Plus, she has a background in TV work in Alaska.
The old guard of the GOP may unleash her to rally the base, but they don't really want in her in the White House.
Giving her a show on Fox will accomplish her goals and theirs as well.

2. I wish...but, no, I don't think so. |
|
The evangelicals love Palin... worship her. Plus, Katherine came from good stock. She went quietly into the night. Palin wants to rule the world.

5. Evangelicals loved Harris too. |
|
And running for Congress and then Senate doesn't necessarily qualify as going quietly into the night. Just my opinion.

I've been saying exactly that (that the GOP would "Katherine Harris" Palin) for a few weeks or so now.
I suspect she'll all but disappear in the coming months.

4. Palin has put a huge target on her back. |
|
She's made political enemies in both parties in Alaska, and they and the press will not hesitate to dig into every potential scandal. Especially the very real possiblity that the Alaska taxpayers unwittingly paid for her new Wasilla home, with pilfered materials and labor from the skating rink project. It shouldn't take that much research to discover whether Palin paid those bills from her personal bank accounts or not. I predict a Stevens like indictment and possibly more than one.
While Harris was an election thief, as far as I know no one has charged that she profited monetarily from her government position. Palin is a very blatant thief and liar.

7. Actually there was the MZM scandal. |
|
Which felled Randy Duke Cunningham, and almost snared Harris.

8. She will never stay in AK now |
|
I have no doubt she will resign, let the Lt Gov become Gov of AK and appoint her to Stevens' Senate seat. She loves the limelight, and so does Todd, and they are not about to stick around in Wasilla anymore.

9. Well she's already gone beyond Katherine Harris crazy. |
|
I hope that she continues courting the evangelical base. She can continue her job of destroying the Repub party.

how in the hell would it be possible?
she is a train wreck.
i never fathomed she would be anything but yesterday's news.

14. it's already happening |
|
the leaks, probably lies, about her from the McCain camp seem just like the attacks on Harris from the Florida GOP when she was running for Senate. They're going to try to systematically destroy her so she will go back to Alaska and never show her face in D.C.

15. I cannot believe i'm going to say this but i think Harris is less dumb than Palin is. |
|
Harris really was a caricature based on her looks and you throw in all the crazy and evil and it's a scary package. Palin isn't scary looking but her lack of common knowledge is mind blowing and the way she speaks, not even the voice but the way she string words together and gobbledygook is just weird.
Who speaks that way really, i have never heard anyone besides Palin speak in that odd manner.
