Patriots who took it in the chin we'd like to see in President Obama's administration
Joe Wilson as Embassador to any country he wants.
Valerie Plame as a Presidential Advisor in Middle East nuclear weapons expert
Al Gore as Head of the National Climate Change Agency (a sub-department in FEMA)
Richard Clark reinstated as anti terror advisor

And Dan Rather should get something back. A formal apology or the right to sue for defamation or something.

Anyone else haves any ideas?

26. That's an excellent idea
I think Mr Cleland would have actual empathy for our returning vets, unlike the repukes who seem to only care about our servicemembers while they're still cannon fodder.

5. Joe Wilson insulted Obama repeatedly during the primaries.
Take a look at this article for instance: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joe-wilson/legitimate-questions-of-j_b_100080.html

There's more where that came from, including some outright lies. I wouldn't give Joe Wilson a Diet Coke if I were Obama.

17. He also exposed the yellowcake lies which blew the door wide open about the lies
that lead us to war. He is still a Patriot who got the rawest of deals from Rove and Cheney, and ultimately did them a great deal of harm.

I think Obama would recognize that easily.

20. Yep, Joe's a patriot, but he did insult Obama quite vigorously in defense of Hillary's candidacy.
I say let Joe and Valerie make their money on their books. I'll buy one.

But, you're right, Joe did a very patriotic thing for our country.

21. A lot of Hillary backers did & as I recall Obama backers insulted Hillary
Venom flew back and forth liberally. It was a campaign and passions were red hot.

It's been a relief to see Obama and Hillary getting along and Hillary working so hard to get him elected. Both of them are good role models for how to get over it.

22. So what? A lot of Hillary surrogates insulted Obama.
If THAT is your litmus test for choosing competent cabinet members, then you're really no better at it than Bush was.

25. tough. he's hardly the only patriot. and he lied his ass off and
attacked Obama in ugly ways. I hope Obama doesn't give him an ambassadorship.

6. How about people who are actually qualified as
determined by Obama and his people, and not some perceived payback or reward. That would be a difference.

The idea that "we" need a Kennedy, or a Kerry or god forbid an Edwards to reward some old party people is just insane.

The people voted for change, not more of the same old crap.

16. Kerry was highly qualified to be president, knows more about tracking terrorism and its funding than
anyone in DC, knows more about unraveling global financial crisis than anyone in DC, and knows as much about global water issues and climate change as Gore. (Kerry did work for 10 yrs with other world leaders while helping to craft Kyoto). But then, maybe you are extremely unfamiliar with Kerry's extensive workload over the last few decades.

8. No Dem took more abuse for going after BushInc than Kerry and Dean. Even from OTHER Dems.
But, I'd prefer Kerry stay in Senate and lead Truth and Reconciliation hearings, since he has been the top advocate for open and accountable government throughout his 4 decades of public service. And undergod knows, after so many decades of Bush and his Dem protectors, this nation NEEDS open government more than ever.

I'd still want Dean to lead the DNC as he has been the most competent chair the party has had in 40 years.

For vallor and honor in correctly pointing out that just because McCain was a so-called "war hero," it didn't necessarily mean he would be a good executive.

24. Joe Wilson was a real pitbull against Obama. Obama owes him nothing.
Oh, and it's Ambassador not Embassador. Valerie Plame didn't support him either. Al Gore would be great if he wants to be part of the Admin. I have no problem with Clark.

I'd love to see Dean as Sec of HHS. He's done more for Obama than any of those you listed and taken it on the chin as well. But that's up to Obama.
