This Election Night post on FreeRepublic broke my irony meter:
Look What Happened the Last Time We Had A POTUS from Illinois!!!

Posted on November 5, 2008 12:04:20 AM EST by rebel85

Looking for great leaders from the RED States to come forward...it is time for a new delegation.

Can't count on Virginia this time..but looks like Texas will more than suffice.

What ever you do...do not let go of your Guns!!!!!

1. That's not even irony, it's flat out Confederacy fetishism
Seriously, who would ever compare a new President to Lincoln in a BAD way?!

9. Not surprising....
The idiot over at "TexasDarlin" who first pulled the whole "Obama lost his citizenship when his mom married an Indonesian" thing is a Neo-Confederate who called reconstruction a "dark time in our nations history" and said the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were railroaded though the states after the Civil War.

Even the name he goes by reflects this - "Judah Benjamin", after Judah P. Benjamin, the Confederate Attorney General, Secretary of War, and Secretary of State.

When President Obama decides to take away their guns, which will be on Jan. 21, 2009...I'm going to volunteered to pry them loose from their cold dead hands. I think it will be a fun job!

10. Wink. We don't have to pretend anymore.
Oh wait, the Constitution says Congress still has to declare him eligible...

7. Now now now its not nice to mess with the historically challenged
Remember they think Gun Smoke and Little House were documentaries on the old west instead of prime time drama's, in one case they used the author's name in the show, but then had nothing based on what the book actually was about. Then their knowledge of the civil war came from Clint Eastwood movies not on the war itself.
