I'm afraid we are seeing 'a driveby looting of the public treasury' before Obama takes office...
How in the world can the Treasury Department/Paulson NOT KNOW who got how much of the "Bailout Money" and how that money was used? ANSWER: They do know... they are just not telling.

How can Congress have passed a "Bailout Bill" giving Billions of $$ to 'selected financial institutions' which had no effective controls and oversight over how that $$ would be used?
ANSWER: Paulson asked, Paulson said the Banks wouldn't accept 'strings', and Congress caved to the pressing urgency of the 'crisis'. And now Paulson has the audacity to tell Congress he won't say who got what $$ or the terms of the loans.

How can Congress get the taxpayers' money back from recipients who are using the Bailout $$ to pay excessive bonuses, dividends to shareholders, and hoarding the money rather than making loans(which was the reason given for needing the $$ in the first place)? ANSWER: They can't get back what has already been forked over.

I am afraid we are going to learn that this was a well-planned effort to reach inside the Public Treasury and walk off with Trillions of Taxpayers' Dollars while the Bush Administration plays the role of incompetent and impotent stooge.

IF we don't get a handle on corporate misconduct in this country, you can forget having a democracy.

1. Public executions of the thieves?
That's how China would deal with it. Nothing else seems to get through to these bastards.

5. They're "defunding the left" as Thomas Frank points out...
Read "The Wrecking Crew" by Thomas Frank, which details why "Deficits don't matter" to Republicans... they WANT the Government to be broke and ineffective, and Bush's two terms have been a prime example of that, leaving Obama with SO much debt he's going to have a tough time selling any programs that are costly at all, especially if they're "entitlements" like health care or welfare.
