Charlie Christ (sic) on POTUS08 this morning |
|
states that the road ahead for Republicans is through moderation, appealing to Hispanics, blacks, dealing with economic issues.
Watch out for this guy in 2012 - if his party has enough sense to listen to him instead of the crazies he'll be someone Obama will have to take seriously if he wants a second term.

1. Gov Crist has shown me that he is one of the few SANE |
|
republicants! He showed me that not all repukes are irredeemable when he ordered that Florida early voting sites expand their hours during this last Presidential Election. This man is not afraid of allowing people to vote and allowing those votes to be counted.
I like him!

4. Exactly why I fear him... |
|
He's really a much more formidable opponent than Bush in 2000 or McCain in 2008 because he's not tied to the hard-core right wing crazies and doesn't throw Reagan's name out every 10 seconds.

26. ill be scared/impressed if he doesnt pull a Romney in the GOP primary |
|
Romney started off as the moderate guy from MA, even pushed a healthcare program... then he swung ultra-right in the primaries to lay claim as a social conservative.
Perhaps things will change in the GOP by 2012 but im very skeptical after the last few months.

|
the gnashing of teeth wouldn't make up for the Dem loss, but it'd still be funny.

said she didn't have clue.
Well, most of us don't. Tons more men have sex with men that anyone talks about (my opinion).

21. I think it will take repugs a long time |
|
to figure out who they are and/or to decide on a ticket; in either case, it will give O another opportunity to articulate, and H + C might be interesting and informative. (I don't fear them at the moment.)

23. No way... the religioius right is meh toward Huckabee but HATES Crist |
|
When he was on McCain's shortlist they said he was unacceptable and picking him would mean a huge loss in support. http://crooksandliars.com/2008/07/30/religious-right-still-under-the-delusion-that-its-calling-the-shotsif Crist runs... expect him to do a LOT of making up to these people to convince them he's "family-friendly" (wink-wink)

19. Crist cut education this year in FL by 17%...it was harsh! |
|
That being said, he is much more moderate than the wackos that have taken over the Republican party...
Because of that, he'd never make it through the primaries, specially with the "gay rumors" whisper campaign going around...

since wedge issue Rovian politics totally imploded on them this year.

24. Charlie is way to wishy-washy |
|
How Charlie handles our fiscal crisis in FLA in the coming six months will seal his near future in politics.
Where does the Republican Party want to go? That also determines Charlie's future. Charlie goes with the flow a bit too much. He wasn't chosen by McCain for VP for various reasons.

Did he turn it down because he didn't want to be on a losing ticket. I think that might have something to do with the Palin pick. Nobody else wanted it.

.... the man doesn't have the face to win. We all know looks are a factor and just one reason why we're not crying about President Elect McCain right now.
Although I have always thought his last name would help him here in the Bible belt. :)
