Susan Rice is a Secretary of State in waiting... |
|
Madeline Albright served as UN Ambassador for 4 years before being appointed Secretary of State under Clinton. She has the credentials, temperament, and philosophy that makes one a great SOS. If Hillary should choose to do something else in 4 years, Susan Rice would be good and ready to step in for Obama.

1. It's an almost certainty that Clinton would step down as Obama starts his second term. |
|
Judging by history.
They she starts her 2016 campaign.

2. Sounds right. Or maybe she steps down in 2013 to give herself time for the 2016 elections. |

12. No thanks. I like Paterson. |
|
And I doubt she would go from Secretary of State to Governor anyway.

The S.O.S. position is only a stepping stone for Hillary.
As I mentioned in another thread, Dr. Rice has impressive credentials. I would love to see her as a Secretary of State someday.

I don't see Hillary hiring her but I could be surprised.

7. I'm thinking Susan Powers will likely go to State. |
|
Might be awkward, but it fits in with this whole competency trumping rivalry thing.

6. I'd say she's a frontrunner. I think Hillary is a four-year or two-year appointee. |

11. I think I read today that she's only in her early forties. |
|
She has a lot of time to be Secretary of State.

Perhaps Senator Clinton will serve a few years as Secretary of State and then take a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. She IS a top notch attorney, you know...
