The Old Man at the White House gate |
|
I was sent this by a friend in France. I took the liberty of translating (sorry, just couldn't resist):
One day, at the beginning of February, 2009, an old man shows up at the gate of the White House and tells the guard, "I would like to visit the White House and see President Bush."
The guard kindly explains to the old man that Bush is no longer president and no longer lives there.
The next day, the old man shows up again. He tells the guard, "I would like to visit the White House and see President Bush."
The guard again explains to the old man that Bush is no longer president and no longer lives there.
The third day in a row, the old man again shows up at the same White House gate, and tells the guard, "I would like to visit the White House and see President Bush."
The guard doesn't want to lose his patience at the old guy, but is at a loss for what else to tell him. The guard says, "Sir, George Bush is no longer president, and he no longer lives here. I have now told you this three days in a row. Is there some part of this that you don't understand?"
The old man replies, "not at all. I understand perfectly. I just love hearing you say that."

When the guard hears the old man say that, he smiles and salutes and says "See you tomorrow sir"
