Rick Warren has been on the defensive ever since the invitation was extended. |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 01:51 PM by 11 Bravo
People who never heard of him are learning what he stands for, and are now asking themselves, "That crazy sonofabitch believes WHAT?" Warren is caught squarely in the spotlight, and is being forced to defend the indefensible. So, while I still believe the invite was a bonehead move, that one rebellious synapse keeps tingling away, causing me to wonder if maybe, just maybe, Barack Obama IS the smartest mother-fucker in the room.

1. Roaches are still roaches even when you shine a light on them. |
|
This move will not change America's mind about Warren. It will only give the asshole a platform. Plus, Warren and Obama are "friends," remember? You don't make "friends" with someone you don't have a lot in common with.
Whatever the motive, it was still a boneheaded and insensitive decision on Obama's part.

another spell edit :eyes:
Everybody who didn't hear about the guy after the courtroom shooting, or the Saddleback forum are scrambling to read all they can about him. I hope he only gets fifteen minutes, and then fades back into the obscurity from whence he came.

7. I'm too sleepy to be posting. |
|
I've had to post and then edit and then repost a longish reply to someone because I thought I had answered the wrong person in the wrong thread in the wrong tab and my reply made no sense, just like this one makes no sense.
Good night. :hi:

8. In my experience you need to shine a light on them before you can squash them. |
|
Possibly that dynamic is in play.

10. Politics is sometimes bloody |
|
What matters is that the blood be kept to a minimum.
And how elite of you to determine, against common sense, that America will not change it's mind. The education about the buttwipe is getting out here. And you sit there and claim it won't matter? Education doesn't matter? If that isn't an new elite position, what is?

11. Excuse me, but I work two jobs and I'm putting myself through school right now |
|
not only that, but my father grew up in atrailer park and my family barely rose above that income level my entire life. i just got off a shift at a restaurant where I scooped up garbage, took out the trash in below zero temperatures, and the garbage bag broke and spilled fish guts, trashwater, and assorted other filthy smelly nastiness all over me. I walked the two miles or so back to my one-room apartment without being able to wash myself, stinking like a goddamn landfill, with a hole in my left shoe that kept letting in the snow. When I got home, I took off my coat, went to the fridge and saw that there was nothing to eat, so I had to put on my coat again and walk to the supermarket, where I bought a bag of rice, on which I will subsist for the next week.
And you want to sit in your comfy chair and call ME elitist? You have some fuckin' nerve.

18. I have plenty of friends I don't have a lot in common with. |

I have some friend with which I disagree on every single issue. Literally. But aside from that, we get along.
Sometimes it works like that. I don't hold purity tests for my friends.

one that I posted on the other one. We who raised our voices get the credit for exposing Warren for what he is. Obama never expected this flap. Why he did not expect it is a mystery and somewhat disturbing. However, he did not expect it.

are those who are exposing Warren and holding Obama accountable. Had we listened to the other crowd here, Warren would be doing a self promoting press tour as Obama's Pastor, without a word spoken against him. Obama says nothing but good things about Warren, and stands with him rather than with his supporters. If this is some sort of tactic, as some like to think, well clearly the only way that works is if WE do the shouting, if we shine the light of truth.
