I don't give a rat's ass about Gupta. I am very disturbed by the appointment of Dennis Ross
as Mideast Envoy. This is not a positive change. In fact, this truly isn't change. Ross is too biased toward Israel and he is not viewed in the region as someone who will deal with each side in en even handed way.

1. I think all we can expect is someone with a bias in favor of Israel.
While I'm not for opposing someone necessarily for having that bias, I do oppose someone who will continue to look the other way when an action might not be in peace's best interest or is profoundly counterproductive. I don't know enough about Ross so I will read up.

2. They're both dishonest shills. But Ross's appointment is a travesty.

3. I don't think it matters if Gupta is a dishonest shill
it matters a great deal that Ross, with his bias toward Israel, is the Mideast Envoy. It is a travesty.

4. Note how ADL, AIPAC and their rightist allies
scuttled the prescient Robert Malley, who wrote the following in IHT a year ago:

"In conversations with Israeli and Hamas leaders, it becomes apparent that all-out military confrontation is neither side's first choice. But events, inexorably, are fast leading there. The cost will be measured in enormous loss of life, a generation of radicalized and embittered Gazans, and another bankrupt peace process."

8. Sorry but people have incorrectly identified Obama as...
The great progressive hope. He is not. He is sure to fail if that is the standard by which he is measured. He is mainstream center-right. Has always been and will likely remain unless WE push harder than hell!
