Meh. Forget Warren. Lowery just wiped the floor with him. |
|
That was a beautiful prayer. I'm thrilled with that.
Oh happy day.

Warren is the poster boy for McFaith. It's sad, really...noxious homophobia and patriarchalism aside...

36. That's what I wondered about Rick Warren too. |
|
How does he have so many followers? I thought his delivery absolutely STANK!!! It wasn't the Lord's Prayer itself that offended me, but the way he seemed to "spit out" the words. The cadence was just awful. If he's supposed to have some kind of charisma, I sure didn't see it.

40. He has followers because he has followers |
|
That's how it works. he has a core group who for, whatever dent-head reason think he's awesome... and then there's all the people who go "Well if they think he's awesome, then he must be awesome!" and it expands from there.

I was very surprised. His prayer was way better than Warren's and the poets. He is kind of lucky though that he has a cool voice.

24. Oh really? I liked Lowery talking about being inclusive, and about |
|
taking care of the poor. The end was cute, but the entire message was inspiring to me. I need to find a transcript of it.
By "forget Warren" I kind of meant that as a gay woman I was ready to leave that whole controversy behind. I am inspired by Lowery, ready to move on and be the change. :)

31. I'm not generally moved by public prayers, but I've always loved |
|
the Lord's Prayer and I also loved all the talk about equality (Warren should practice what he preaches. I think I got a tad bored during the poem and semi-tuned out. My bad. :o
Some people on this forum should take Lowry's word about inclusiveness to heart and stop with all the Roberts flub threads. Forgiveness is devine, particularly when you're forgiving someone of a nervous and harmless mistake.

33. Warren Revealed Himself As Very, Very Small man, Ma'am |
|
To follow his invocation of the Christ with the words 'who changed my life' was one of the most petty and self-aggrandizing things conceivable. The little fella tried by that to make the whole event, and even the deity, all about him, and that is contemptible.

43. can we resolve never to mention that name again on this site? . . . |
|
let's just refer to him as "he whose name shall never be uttered" . . . or typed, for that matter . . . it's over, he's gone, let's just forget him . . .
and you're absolutely right . . . Lowery made mincemeat out of him . . . can I get an "AMEN?" . . .
