California is actually in play in this national election |
|
even though it's the Primary. i know it will easily go Dem in the GE.
this is the first time since since i started voting that California is actually a competition in a national election. 2000 was the first national election i voted in and California was easily Gore's in the Primary and GE. the same in 2004 with Kerry.
when was the last time California was competitive in a national election ?

However, the nomination was pretty much sewn up for Clinton by the time of the June primary.
In 1984, Mondale and Hart were close, but as in 1992, it was pretty much Mondale's by the time of the primary.
I would guess it's the first time in at least 25 years it's been BOTH close and meaningful.
I'm excited that my vote is actually decisive this primary. I sent in my absentee for Obama and I sent it in Tuesday. Had I voted a week before, it probably would have been for Hillary, though unenthusiastically. However I am very enthusiastic about my choice now.
