Report Arnold's Petition Gatherers: New Hotline! |
|
All Californians- Please write down this number. Keep a copy in your car, purse, etc so we can report Arnold's paid petition peddlers ASAP--and rally a posse to head 'em off at the pass! -- Liberty Belle REPORT ARNOLD HOTLINE
If you know of a signature gathering effort by Schwarzeneggers' backers, please report it at the following number or email address. California for Democracy will do our best to try to get local folks out there to counter these dispicable efforts to destroy the Californian community.
How do I find out?
If you would like to become a state-wide coordinator for this effort, please email the above address. If you are accepted as a coordinator, you will get messages (voice and email) directly into your e-mailbox, and you will be armed with a list of our local coordinators, who you will call once you get a message. If you want to help with your local are effort, please email us at the above address and we will put you in touch.
The right wing is putting together a concerted effort, joined by the corruption of power in Schwarzenegger's office, to weaken California. We must take action to make California work for ordinary people. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not interested in you. But we know you are interested in California. This is your chance to stand up for California!
How do I find out where the signature gatherers are?
It's hard to say definitively, but there are a few ways to finding out about some signature gathering efforts other than seeing them on the streets. If you have time, read Yahoo!Group and Google Group messages about signature (on Google, do a search), look on your local Republican and right wing group's website and see if something is posted. If you want, get on the mailing lists of the Republican party and the right wing nutjob and misnamed group "Citizens to Save California." You might find out things through their emails. Basically this has to be a look around and find effort, since there is no one published scheduled in its entirety anywhere. If you know of other ways, let us know by emailing us at the above address!

4. I've seen and talked to them twice - one at Target, one at Ralph's |
|
Both admitted they were paid, both admitted they didn't really care about it, but were just there for the money. Both also said they did live around here when I asked.
They had "Arnold's petitions," including "no drivers' licenses for illegals" and "parental notification for abortion."
Tell me what to do and I'll do it.

6. I saw one at Nob Hill supermarket |
|
in Scotts Valley this week. I told her that the $7 million Arnold will spend on a special election should be spent on the schools. The woman said she agreed with me. I got the impression she was just collecting signatures for the money.

12. It's $70 million, not $7 million. |
|
Actually it's probably even more, since Arnold just got back from all that fundraising in NYC.

16. It is 70 million that California cannot afford! |
|
I heard on my local news this a.m. that that stupid political maneuver of his would end up costing my county so much they would have to lay off 50 county employees!
Screw that! No one wants his stinking initiatives except big business. I can't believe I haven't run into any signature gatherers yet. That's a good thing I guess.

9. Go to the site (link above in the 1st reply) |

for California for Democracy. Sign up to participate and they'll provide you with everything--info on how to track down and find petition gatherers, plus handouts to clue people in on the truth about Arnold's initiatives.
Now for the really, REALLY bad news-- Our legislative committee for DFA in San Diego just checked with the Secretary of State's office. There are more than EIGHTY petitions being circulated--and all but 1 or 2 are absolutely terrible!
The predictable anti-abortion measures, tax cuts for the wealthy, plus a bill to give Arnold super-powers to prevent the legislature from overriding him.
There are some technical tax ones that we need help analyzing, if anyone here is a lawyer or tax expert.
Also we should all try to get copies of the sole Democratic petition listed: A measure to increase the minimum wage.

<< and "parental notification for abortion." >>>
There was a woman in front of the heath food store with this petition. Something about being 16 years old and blah blah.
I let her have it and told her she was just chipping away at Roe v. Wade. She didn't seem to care.
Obviously a very clever Arnold plant! :argh:
Thank you for validatings my paranoid mind!

10. Good for you! I called the Labor Council and sent copies to Retail Clerks |
|
so workers in all the stores in San Diego can rat out Arnold's petition gatherers. I'd encourage all of you to do the same in your cities or counties.

22. Spoke with one guy tonight... |
|
...soliciting signatures on a dozen or so petitions outside the grocery store. He said he's a Democrat, just working for a company that pays $5 a signature. He said he was just being paid to bring issues to the voters and he trusted them to "make the right decisions." My daughter explained to him the costs of a special election and the reason Arnold didn't want to wait for a regular election, as well as how some of these petitions were against the people's interests.
Another guy came along and started to sign the petitions without even reading them. We told him he might not want to do that, as they were just promoting Arnold's agenda. The guy smirked and said "good," gave a big thumbs up and continued signing. I told him that he might not want to be in the hospital when the nurses have their patient load increased -- and his comment was "screw the nurses."
There's simply no talking to people like that and I remembered suddenly why I let my kids do all the debating these days. My blood pressure can't handle these kind of arrogant ignoramuses anymore.

'lower your property taxes' I said,'Since you're probably from out of state, U need 2 know we have Prop 13 that covers what your getting paid to sell. Taxes R an investment in the future. Taxes build schools, pave streets, hire police and firemen.' 'You can save billions', he yelled. I hate steroid boy almost as much as yellow rogue!
