"Becky Lourey will be seeking the DFL endorsement for Governor |
|
A formal announcement of her candidacy will be made in the near future."
I just found the above in my State Central Committee email list. I don't know how reliable the information is.

Becky Lourey is very progressive. You may recall that her son was killed in Iraq earlier this year and she did travel down to Camp Casey.

3. I'll support her. It's about time we had a caring and progressive woman |
|
in the governor's chair.
I wonder how she will fair against Hatch.

5. I think Becky would make a good governor |

I thought that last time she got shoved aside for Roger Moe, too.

I can't believe our good fortune.
Waiting for this since getting a Lourey 06 button last winter. But after her son was killed in Iraq I wasn't so sure she would run. And then sometime in June a Kelley staffer told me that Lourey would not be running. I'm so glad she will.
I have every confidence that she will win the endorsement, the primary, and the general. It is about time MN had a woman governor.

8. If she doesn't win the primary.... |
|
For example, in the event that Mike Hatch wins the DFL gubernatorial nomination...
Any chance that Lourey would consider a run against Norm Coleman for U.S. Senate in 2008?

9. She has been interested in governor for some time |
|
Having run for governor last time around, and bowing out to Roger Moe. She would be a compelling Senate candidate if she had any interest in going to DC, which I'm not sure she does.
As far as Hatch goes, he has yet to declare his candidacy, which is strange because he was going to announce his intentions post labor day. I bet he doesn't run. Lourey has great chance of getting endorsement and winning primary and then general.

10. Has she said she'd take it to a primary? |
|
Last time she went along with the endorsement and didn't run in the primary. Her (state) senate seat will also be up in 2006, in 2002 when she didn't get endorsement, she did go back and run for that again. I'd like to see her be governor, but I also hate to lose her in the senate.
A reminder, the party's endorsed nominee will be chosen at the state convention in June. This process will start at the precinct caucuses March 7, 2006.
