1. Originally, yes.
And I've been to all the cities you mention - but right now I'm living in the Twin Cities. A big shout-out to my greater Minnesota patriots!

6. hey
I'm one of the peeps she knows who went to Morris. I graduated in '98, so you don't know me. I've gone back there a few times in recent years to go to Jazz Fest, but I missed it this year.

There for all to see.
Stands an old abandoned outhouse
Called the University.

Mighty Cougars mighty Cougars
With your tails up in the air.
University University
you can kiss what's under there.

Howdy from a UMM alum - too many years ago
for you to know me, but my sister-in-law
graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Geology
(minored in Math).

edit: Don't forget to canoe on the Pomme de Terre!

7. Wait...I'm a Geology major!
What was her name?

Also, she needs to know that one of the geology professors died on Friday. His name was Peter Whelan. Could you tell her that and that there's a memorial service for him tomorrow at 5:30? Thanks!

10. My dad was born in Fergus Falls -- about 77 years ago.
I remember travelling there from St. Paul (where I was born) for family reunions in my early childhood -- I actually had a great-uncle and great-aunt named Ole and Lena! :D (full-blood Norwegians on my dad's side of the family -- my dad's mother was the first generation born in the U.S.A. of Norwegian immigrant parents)

I've lived all over the U.S., currently residing in East Central Minnesota, close to the border of Wisconsin. Been a WAAAAAAY long time since I've been to the ancestral homestead out your way. I still have fond memories of sleeping in a dormered attic room at great-aunt Lena's farmhouse, though. Seeing the name "Fergus Falls" always brings me back to my early childhood...

12. LOL
Kinda makes all those "Ole and Lena" jokes a bit personal, eh? :D

No matter, I've always been very proud of my Norwegian heritage. My family has kept up connections with some of the relatives who remained in the old country. I keep this in my mind at those times when I think that I might want to get out of this effed up country one of these days... :-(
