KSTP morning news just said something about a new Twins' stadium |
|
Why do they still bother?
As prices continue to rise, fewer can pay for it and others will get outraged enough not to buy any tickets again ever. So much the better, let the sports teams who can afford $xx million salaries for SEVERAL players go bankrupt if they'd rather leech off of every taxpayer for a new $300 mil stadium.

Personaly, I hate the dome. Baseball is ment to be played outdoors. Secondly, baseball has been the most friendly to families in regards to prices. gg 6 buck cheep seats. http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/min/ticketing/min_seating_pricing.jsp

2. A new stadium is sure to up the ticket prices |
|
I have some sympathy for the Twins because they were never happy with the Dome which was mainly built for the Vikings. However, I object to tax money being used for it.

I dont care for the idea of the State buying a new stadium, however I dont see any problem with the state seting up a bond for a new stadium and have the Twins pay that off over 20 years (WITH interest). Where I do see some consern is Carl Pohlad will sell or move the Twins if the opertunity shows itself. Set it up so the Twins stay here for the next 20 years and Pohlad wont be able to pull a Norm Green on us.

6. i actually like the metrodome where it is. |
|
I enjoy looking at the Minneapolis skyline on my walk to school over the Mississippi River every morning, and the metrodome is included in that.
I'm not too familiar with the warehouse district. It doesn't really seem like the greatest area, but as I've said, I haven't been there much.

7. Target Center. Latest news is that taxpayers will pay 75% of the cost. |
|
Nice.
And that extra money will, if all of this is passed, via sales tax increases.
I say "let them go". I'm tired of the exploitation and the increase in costs must surely be bothering many by now. The Great American Pastime no longer affordable by MANY Americans. Seems rather silly.

8. Since the state has cut child abuse prevention funding by 50%, |
|
and our schools, police, and fire departments are all hurting, SHAME ON US if we build a new place for millionaires to play a game.
