Ok-who here is ready for a grandiose DU get-together?
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 03:38 PM by chickenscratching
I'm hurting with jealously over the fun all the boston-ers appeared to have, so I think it's high time that the Minneapolis area get a little nuzzling as well.
SO, I think it's time for a gigantic get- together this coming summer (July perhaps?).
I'm think restaurants, bars, beach, science museum? Maybe the hidden beach would facilitate all the crazy DU'rs?

Anyway, tell me what you think, your ideas, etc so maybe we could talk about it a bit this coming weekend at David Fongs.
I am willing to get this crap together and I mentioned in the Lounge: for anyone that is out of state I am willing to drive a three hour radius to pick people up (up to four people).

1. Will it involve group sex with box turtles?
Otherwise, I'm not sure if I can call it a real Democratic gathering. :-)

9. Money and available vacation time.
It would depend heavily on when it would occur and me not going bankrupt before then.

10. Disclosure:
They're lake beaches. Minneapolis has 11 lakes in the city limits, and most of them have at least one swimming beach.

Don't expect to go surfing or snorkeling to see tropical fish. :-)

12. I wonder if we really want to be grandiose
if we shouldn't find a place outstate so we could meet some of our pals who don't live in the metro area?

Should we think about St. Cloud? (Isn't it just about the geographic center of the state?) Maybe someone who's familar with that area could think of a spot?

13. Isn't Hidden Beach the clothing optional beach?
I'm sure we could be earn more notoriety than the Boston DUers if this is done correctly.

15. Though not as hard to get to as it was before
The Minneapolis folks can probably correct me, but I seem to recall a hubbub over the "brushing out" of the beach area.

17. Yep-I've taken a cab to hidden beach.
Years ago when my friends and I were leaving the Saloon, we hailed a cab and was dropped off at the clearing for hidden beach. Nekkid swimming at bar time probably wasn't the wisest move, but hey, I was twenty.

18. I'd like to have music and dancing around a bonfire!
We could encourage DU musicians to come and jam.

If we timed it right, we could turn it into a fundraiser.

We have so many parks where people could camp out or stay at a nearby motel or hotel.

What do you think?
