C'mon, Texans, we only get to pressure our Lege once every two years. We should all be calling the Lege every week about something.
That's my goal anyway.
This is a great resource. What's on YOUR bill-tracking list? Here's mine. I'm not going to tell you what they are. You can go look 'em up, why not?

4. Already found it but thanks |

My main gripe is that it calls for incentive performance pay for teachers. This is so ludicrous. If the teacher were the only factor in determining the performance of child in school then I would agree with this but our product is not standardized as much as repukes would like to think so. We are just one part of picture. What you'll get is teachers migrating to wealthy districts where children come to school with more needs already satisfied so that the teacher can obtain the "performance" pay. I teach in a very low-income area, 95% free and reduced lunch, non-English speaking in the 70th percentile, etc... It would be harder for my teachers to reach that performance pay I would venture to guess.

6. We had a lobby day yesterday |
|
The Alliance for a Clean Texas held a lobby day at the Capitol yesterday & it seemed to be quite effective. We need to have a LOT more events like this1 And I know everyone will be in the streets Saturday, right?

your lobby days here! I always like to at least call. I think soon I will be on a first name basis with the aides in my rep's offices. :)
