Man Sodomizes Stepson To Avenge Daughter's Rape

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) ― A father sodomized his 18-year-old stepson to avenge the teenager's alleged rape of the man's 8-year-old daughter, police said.

The father, 32, turned himself into to authorities on Friday and was released from jail Saturday after posting a $17,500 bond. He faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault.

The stepson was arrested Jan. 2 and charged with suspicion of aggravated sexual assault. Police say the father caught him assaulting his daughter, and a subsequent examination at a hospital revealed the girl had been sodomized.

Sgt. Cheryl Johnson, supervisor of the Fort Worth sex crimes unit, said in a story posted Saturday on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Web site that people need to "allow the criminal justice system to work for them."

"This is a very unique case, but we have a criminal justice system in place, and no one can take the law into their own hands," Johnson said.

The Star-Telegram didn't identify the father or the stepson to protect the identity of the girl. Fort Worth police didn't immediately return phone and e-mail messages from The Associated Press.

When the stepson was arrested, the man warned his wife not to get the teenager out of jail. She posted bond for the teen's release. When he called home Jan. 3 after getting released, the father took the call and picked him up, police said.

Instead of taking the teenager home, the Arlington man drove to an abandoned house in Fort Worth, beat his stepson with a baseball bat and sodomized him with a metal tool, police said.

The step son was acting out sexually, and then the stepfather
choses to behave this way. We'd all be beside ourselves with
very intense emotions, if this happened to our own child. However,
we wouldn't chose to rape, in response.

This family has probably been uber-dysfunctional for generations.

I'm usually the first to criticize "eye for an eye", but you'd think that if it ever makes sense...I mean...if you caught someone raping your 8 year old daughter -- he actually saw it happen according to the OP ... and I strongly doubt doubt the father was sexually aroused by putting the metal tool in 18 year old. It has a cold logic to it.

It's not going to help the father, legally speaking, that he didn't go medieval on the kid when he caught him, and that he thought about it, and warned the wife not to bail him out. It really shows a lot of premeditation and intent, and not that he was overwhelmed by emotion and anger.

But, man, he saw the kid doing it...I mean, if this poor little girl were screaming and crying...could you imagine actually seeing your child in that situation? I think it's impossible to even imagine how you would react. It really is incredibly awful. It used to be that killing your spouse or a person you caught sleeping with your spouse wasn't murder (if you did it in the heat of the moment) -- and that's ridiculous, because you have two consenting adults having sex in that situation.

But, I don't know.

This is really a moment when I think maybe all the rules I think I have about justice and fairness and being innocent until proven guilty and not taking the law into your own hands, and even though I think there's a 99.999% chance I'd never do this...well, I could understand if a jury didn't feel comfortable convicting him of a serious crime.

That's pretty sick. I think anyone who advocates raping someone is sick. I can understand wanting harsh punishment and lessons learned, but I can't understand when people want to use a sex offense to commit another sex offense.

I've actually heard of similar stories in other countries - but without the 'metal tool' part (just plain ol' angry revenge sodomy). Not condoning it, mind you - but a story like this is not 'unique'.

Tarrant County court records show that the father received two years deferred adjudication probation in November 1996 after pleading guilty to burglary of a habitation.

As part of a plea agreement, the man avoided prosecution on four other charges: possession of marijuana, theft by check and two cases of assault with bodily injury. His probation, however, was revoked in 2000 and he was sentenced to two years in prison.

The father also received a 30-day jail sentence for assault with bodily injury in 2001 and a 20-day jail sentence for possession of marijuana in 2006, records show.

The 18-year-old stepson does not have an adult criminal record in Tarrant County, records show.
