Anyone see this thread about Fred Risser's anti-harrassment bill? |
|
It makes is a fineable offense to bother a woman about breast-feeding in public. It's a shame we even need a bill like this, but it's nice to know he is doing something. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5025921

1. I like Fred Risser, and this bill. |

Assuming it will be enforced with common sense -- I wouldn't want someone who innocently offers a nursing mother a blanket to be arrested or anything. Then again, we don't arrest everyone who asks an uninterested party on a date for sexual harassment, so there shouldn't be much trouble.
I'm happy to say I haven't seen any of my breast-feeding friends get harassed while out and about. I did have to listen to a group of women in a Madison Starbucks discuss, loudly, the "fact" that not breast-feeding your child until he or she is a year old is child abuse, but I don't think that counts as harassment of bottle-feeders. (It was very annoying, though.)

2. It's lightning fast, critical, law making like this |
|
that really makes the legislature shine.
I suppose this is the kind of excellent government we can expect from here on out now that that the big cat hunting scare has passed.
