Did you guys see any touch screen voting today? |
|
I was surprised to see one of them at my polling place in Waukesha today (there were still 10+ regular little voting booths and the scantronic thingie). I hope the touch screen POS isn't a sign of things to come.

is the handicapped accessible ballot-marking machine for HAVA compliance. It uses the same paper ballots, which the voter inserts into a slot on the machine. The voter can then use the touchscreen (or headphones to hear selections, if desired), to make the selections, hit "print ballot" and the marked ballot is spit out. The ballot is then put into the same counting machine that everyone else uses. The machines are fairly glitchy, but are rarely used, and it is obvious if it isn't working, because it won't mark the ballot. The machine does not count ballots at all.
