O.K. lets do some predictions for the next 4 years of Bush
And try to be realistic, not crazed out of despair. Its only 4 yers and to be honest, it went more quickly than I thought it would. $ more years of the same will very likely comvince more of the people who voted for Bush to not do so.

Lets look at how the Bushg adminstration made its case for re-election based on false premises.

First, the American Arrogance that 9/11 changed the world. Not so, on 9/11 the U.S. got to experience whqt the world already had been dealing with for decades, though in smaller scale.> If you take the scales on which nations Like Germany, Italy and Ireland had been dealing with terrorism, and then scale up for population, 9/11 was on scale with many terrorist attacks in Europe and Asia.

The we have Iraq. The one nation in the Middle East that had no terorist presence at all, anywhere, Is attacke to give Bush the appearance of strong leadership. Bush convinces an Americanb public that is far from the rugged individualism that we claim but rather, want a leader who claims a fix and provides a target for the American people to focus their rage on . YOu can find Iraq on a map, you cant fins Al Qaeda on a map.

1). I predict George Bush will immediately forget about his tiny plan for health care for 6 million people. SInce he made similar promises in 2000, and forgot them the day after the election, he is likely to repeat. Except for passing legislation to protect doctors and insurance companies, The net result will be that the cost of medical malpractice against doctors will not go down. To control medical costs, insurance companies will then start preventing doctors from practicing what Bush called "preventive medicine" that is whaqt Republicans define as overtesting to avoid missing anything. The net gain will be increeased profits for insurance companis that are not passed on to the doctors or public.

2.) Iraqi's will try to vote in an Islamic Fundamentalist Government and the Bush Administration will try to prevent this from occuring. This will result in a large growth in the insurgency in Iraq. At least a five fold increase. Growth from 13,000 to 65,000 mmembers of the insurgency.

3.) Draft will be reinstated by the end of 2005. No choice given the losses the U.S. is facing againt the insurgents.

4. Increased numbers of desertions from the military. Lost of people will be rotated out of Iraq, but when told they are going back, deset from the military.

5.) Bush fails to reduce the deficit by 2008, as he never planned to. Increase of deficit enables republicans to try to cut social programs.
Deficit increases.

6.) Collapse of the dollar. Germany and France pull money out of U.S. Treasury bonds. Since they are currently financing more than half of our deficit, this excellerated fall of the dollar.

7.) Number of medically uninured rises by ten million.

8.) Numner of people fallling into poverty increases by three million.

9.) With collapse of the dollar, unemployment iincreases to 6 percent.
George Bus's solution is another tac cut in the 1 trillion dollar range.

10.) major Al Qaeda even in the United States before Fall of 2005.

33. Rampant inflation
a) Inflation is a biproduct of trickle down in the first place.

b) Inflation will help wittle down the national debt.

c) Workers usually lose in a period of high inflation. Business and the stock market usually wins. Workers wages do not keep up in such times. Doctors and Dentists tend to over compensate themselves too during inflation.

39. Notwithstanding Ahhnold
I believe that this movement will begin. Only in the most conservative areas of California do things begin to approach what we see in the south. There will be a focus on the contribution of California to the nation and what California gets in return. There will be a recognition that California needs to look out for itself, especially as the tax burden falls more and more on the state rather than the Feds.

All it would take is one boycott of the US by either Europe or China and the BushCo house of cards collapses. There won't be anyone to blame, either.

7. Roe v. Wade overturned. Abortion illegal in most states in 3 years
Of course the overturn of that decison does not by itself criminalize abortion. It sends the issue back to the states. Most states, including almost all of the red states would likely ban or severely restrict abortion.

I give it 3 years to all pan out: Supreme court retirements and appointments, court cases brought forth through the court system, a ruling and then the states acting to ban aboriton.

There will be a lot of unwanted children out there as well as backalley abortions going on too.

12. It will not change that much
Overturning Roe vs Wade will only allow States to ban abortions. Blue states probably will keep abortion legal there will be an underground railroad bringing woman in from Red states. More seriously there will be a flow of doctors to states where they can practice freely leaving the Red states in a healthcare crisis.

9. Maybe.
1) Bush* will support and get tax free medical savings accounts. He won't worry about how to pay for them and they won't help most people. But they are great for the upper middle class. Bush* will support and get national tort reform restricting pain and suffering awards to $250,000. Medical malpractice insurance costs WILL NOT fall, but the insurance companies will be very happy.

2) Bush* will support and get partial privatization of Social Security. He won't worry about how to pay for it. Long term it will turn out to be a disaster. The Social Security debt bomb won't bring Bush* down, but it will prove fatal about 10 years later.

3) The Iraqi's will elect US puppet Allawi as Prime Minister. The insurgency will only continue to grow. American troops will be dying their throughout Bush*s term.

4) Military action will be taken against Iran and possibly Syria. A full draft is avoided, but a needs draft is implemented.

5) There will be a MAJOR terrorist attack against the US in Bush*s term.

6) Bush* does nothing serious to stop rising deficits.

7) The US economy grows slowly and in fits and starts. The quality of US jobs continues to diminish unchecked.

8) The dollar is under pressure. US interest rates rise.

9) The US housing bubble collapses in a sudden and severe fall. Housing prices drop by as much as 35% in some areas. Foreclosures set new records.

10) All government programs helping the poor are cut or eliminated. The administration says it is the responsibility of the states or private charities to help the unfortunate--not the federal government.

11) Bush* appoints 3 very young, ultra conservative Supreme Court justices. This insures a right wing court for the next 30 years. Roe V Wade is severely limited. The use of religion in government matters is broadly expanded.

That's what comes immediately to mind.

29. Won't be a military coalition
Will be an economic one, where Russia in some war or other becomes a partnet in the E.E.C. without being an actual member. Likely to be realted to Rusais current efforts to shore up the ruble by putting the ruble on the gold standard, due to Russian enormous quantities of unmined gold. The ruble and Euro will someway be pegged to each other. And the Euro become the defacto world currency.

In early September, the German Deutsche Bank hinted at economic changes that will result in Germany pulling its investments in U.S. treasury bonds.Germany and France togetther are the largest investors in U.S. government securities. Result will be a furtther softening of the dollar.

My main concern now is how we will ever get our standing back in the world. We are now alone. Whether or not it was a fixed election the rest of the world sees us as supporting the Bush Administration. I wonder how long it will be until the next attack on the U.S. or until China calls in it's loans and we fall into a depression.

1) Roe v. Wade overturned within 2 years; abortion available only in CA, NY, MA and a couple other states.

2) Bush gets to appoint 3 or 4 SC justices, and they will all be under 45 and in favor of xtian theocracy.

3) End of free speech as we know it; end of separation of church and state; end of freedom of religion for anyone who is not judeo-xtian.

4) End of public education.

5) Bush provokes war in Iran, leading to WW III with us on the losing side when Europe nukes us.

6) Bush declares martial law and we have NO MORE national elections.

America, this is exactly what you have asked for, and exactly what you deserve.

17. The Iraq War will get bloody. So will American streets.
bin Laden will finally get what he wanted; an identifiable target for the Middle East to focus their hatred upon. After all, he started this war to unite Arabs against the West, and his plan is working. Iraq will become a kill zone for American soldiers, and a shooting gallery for the new trainee Arabs.

The problems with the American military will increase, and the attempt to institute a draft will fail. Unlike the Vietnam era, where going to war seemed to be patriotic, it will be seen as the height of folly. You don't send kids to war without proper weapons or equipment and keep the trust of the common people too long. (Enough parents who experienced Nam or its aftermath will remember and help their kids to hide.)

But the energized people who voted for Kerry won't let it stay there. Protests will be more often and more boistrous. They may even get more airplay. The government won't be able to effectively isolate or respond to the protests, which will find unique (and perhaps insider-guided) ways around the Secret Service and the police. Imagine the "police riot" of Chicago 1968 filmed from many perspectives by camcorders in the crowd.

And most important, a lot of wrath, like the kind espressed here, will be aimed at the Democratic leadership. They produced these two losing campaigns in a row; they will be held accountable.

20. The center of power in the world
will shift westwards. America will be isolated in the world, and treated like a rabid dog. The economic center of the world will shift elsewhere as Bush destroys the eceonomy even further. Asia and Europe will slowly, but surely, shift their investments to countries that are more stable.

One good thing for the US? Al Qaida will shift their focus away from the US as Bush marginalizes the country even further. It will be held up as the great enemy, but they'll increasingly focus on Europe (head scarves banned, etc.)

21. My list
1) Iraq continues to get worse, perhaps at the same curve that is has been, perhaps in a quantum leap if the razing of Fallujah is particularly bloody. In either case, there will be a limited draft by the end of 2005 and a full one (when the limited draft doesn't fill needed positions due to a sharp drop in reenlistment and rising casualties and desertions). An Iran invasion is possible in late 06 or early 07, but only if enough of Iraq is "pacified" (i.e. bombed into semi-submission) to allow for a base of operations. This invasion turns into an utter disaster; US armed forces may be successful in winning some battlefield victories, but the Rumsfeld doctrine of sending in too few troops (probably 250,000-500,000 for an invasion of Iran instead of about a million), much stronger than expected Iranian resistance (including a larger-than-expected number of USAF planes lost) and dicey supply lines extending from Iraq ensure that Iran makes Iraq look like the original Gulf War. At least one 'moderate' Arab government falls to fundamentalists.

2) The investigations into the the outing of two essential agents in the war against terrorism die a quiet death, as will a number of other investigations. If this does not happen, expect a scandal that will make Iran-Contra look like a two-bit con; and expect this scandal to be barely suppressed by a friendly congress.

3) There is at least one semi-major terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Years later, it will be revealed that Bush/Ashcroft/Ridge incompetence ensured that at least one, and probably two or three obvious signs of said attack will be missed and that it could have been stopped.

4) While China and others will not yet pull all of their money out of the U.S., countries will quietly begin switching to Euro accounts and deliberately trying not do commerce with the U.S. The economy sinks further. Bush blames Clinton, other Democrats, and "furreiners."

5) The job situation does not improve, and gets slightly worse in some areas, especially red states like Ohio.

6) The attempted privatization of Social Security turns into an absolute debacle. It may pass, but if it does, within two years the poverty rate among the elderly skyrockets to levels not seen since before World War II. Bush blames Democrats.

7) Bush does NOT appoint overly extreme SC justices, because the Senate Dems, led by Kerry and Obama, manage to block them. Bush may get one in via recess appointment.

8) Bush does, however, manage to wreck many popular and successful social programs.

9) Although the Democratic candidate in 2008 wins 52% of the popular vote and 325 Electoral Votes, the Republicans engage in massive flummery to try and reverse the result. If they succeed, the Republican Party will establish PRI-like institutionalization and turn the U.S. into a combination of the worst aspects of Mexico and Russia.

27. Addendum
As per number 9 above, if they do succeed, New York, New Jersey, New England, the three west coast states, and perhaps several others begin plans for secession. Wisely, they wait until enough U.S. troops are tied down (in the Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait wars) abroad to actually do so. After some bitter fighting, the nation becomes three (New England, Ecotopia in the west, and the rump United States) with the nuclear arsenal divided between them (most SLBMs go to the new countries and the ICBMs to the U.S.); with the former two becoming reintegrated into the world and achieving real prosperity by 2020, while the rump U.S. becomes the most technologically advanced third world nation ever (and loses that distinction by 2040). These countries, with the rest of the world, move on to entirely economical and ecologically sound renewable fuel by 2050 while the by-then Christian Taliban U.S. never makes that switch and is reduced to a horse-and-buggy economy by then as the remaining oil goes to prosperous countries still in fuel transition such as India and China.

Correct. Scandals will continue to mount until the dam breaks. Then there will be no holding it back and many of the chickens will come home to roost. The Republicans will bring out the knives and carve up themselves. In 1974 this lead to Reagan in 1980, but that trend has continued and has no more productive path to take. Bush couldn't crack 52 percent.

37. If the dam hasn't broken yet, then there is no reason to expect it will.
Remember they still haven't gotten all the news media under the thumb of their Big Liars.

Very little media consolidation has happened because of the recession.

Next up will be big tax breaks to media consolidators most likely.

Of course there is one man in the country that will have his finger on whether any media consolidation will happen and that will be Michael Powell.

.

The deal that they passed over 97% disapproval rating a couple years ago puts the FCC in charge of approving media buyouts. There is one Democrat, one Republican and Michael. So guess who's opinion is going to count.

Perfect. Wellcome to der 5th Reich

And may I say Fuck Michael Powell.

We need to take the mixed boards back from the hoards of mindless paid right wing Big Lie crews.

We need to take the news and arguments we get here and spread it around daily!

That's what we didn't do this time and what we need to do.

We outspent the Republicans. We had a massive "get out the vote" effort. We were energized up the wazoo.

But we didn't match the right wing's massive mixed message board front.

All bloggers should helping themselves to traffic by going to the mixed boards and leaving arguments and links.

We need to spread the smarts around, not just hide because there is no hiding anymore.

26. Social Security will be privatized.
Millions will loose their retirement and then expect the government that set them up for the fall to help them.

51. Just heard his victory speech will focus on his "domestic agenda" -
privatizing social security, capping medical malpractice lawsuits, and "simplyfing" the tax code (hmmm - flat tax or national sales tax?)

42. Massive protests that will turn violent. . .
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:11 PM by cheesesnackidea
The country will be divided even further.

Escalation of the war.

More than 2,500 U.S. troops wil have given their lives by end of 2005.

I don't know how to feel about another attack inside U.S. taking place, but I do think that attacks on U.S. citizens/institutions will increase abroad.

This country will become even more isolated from the world.

North Korea. . .? Iran. . .? Syria. . .?
:wtf:

43. After 8 more months of Iraq and 2000 US soldiers dead we'll start
to withdraw, and leave it in what looks to be reasonable hands. It'll stay "a fledgling democracy", but fall into utter chaos by the end of the decade.

We are the dead

44. Continued Disregard for Environment..Constitutional Amendments galore
Supreme Court Rednext appointments

And here's the worst...liberals leaving America....

I think many strong liberals will seek work in other countries...

I have begun looking....It is not just Bush...Our entire nation has started to represent things I cannot find beleif in anymore.

With the Senate becoming STRONGLY Republicam along with the House and a Redneck President, and a Supreme Court looking like Smoky and the Bandits, I am looking to move.

There's no sense waiting around for social security. It will not be here for anyone under 55 after Bush's term.

This election has sealed the fate of our nation. I hate to be a doom sayer, but I can find no hope in this vote for Bush's policies.

Does anyone know HOW to get work in Canada or New Zealand? I am quite serious.

48. All of this sounds like a plot line for "Revenge of the Sith"
The forces of evil take over and the Sith blame the Jedi.

1) At the current rate the US will be bankrupt within 4 years. Right now Japan is helping us by keeping our inflation low by buying our dollars and exchanging it with Yen. When they run out of Yen, inflation will increase. The Dollar will weaken and the cost of imported products will increase drastically. The deficit will spiral out of control to the point that no one will lend us money or invest in the US.

The only way we can be saved is if we cut spending and reduce our deficit. If this does not happen, see number 1.

2) I would recommend to everyone here, whether you have large or small investments in 401K or pensions to look in investing it overseas in a foreign currency or market.

50. In the Middle East, we are going to affect a regime change in Iran
(this is not a secret or a predicton, here is the plan: http://www.newamericancentury.org). This will require the expansion of our military, and if not through a direct draft, then through an indirect draft by involuntary extensions of duty. To achieve the necessary troop strength, we will likely have our puppet government in Iraq "kick us out" -- which we will agree to "reluctantly" -- so we can re-deploy in Iran.

If you liked 9/11, the quadmire in Iraq, growing anti-Americanism around the globe, and the sky-high oil and gas prices, you're gonna LOVE the next four years!

52. Arts and education funding slashed
They'll finally abolish the NEA and NEH. Arts organizations fold all across the country.

More "school choice" programs will increase the demand for the abolition of public education.

55. Camps
Already they have chosen their new scapegoat - GLBT people.

When shit starts getting fucked royally (probably more "terrorist" attacks as well) they will blame it on GLBT people, liberals, democrats, and anyone who criticizes them. They will then set up camps.

56. and it wont matter at all
We are now a one party system, votes dont count, speaking up dont count, come 2008 democrated votes will be lost and wont be counted like the last two years, the right will bring up religion in every conversation and civil rights will be zero.

Im kinda of thinking that they will change the law, and let Bush have more than two terms, heck Bush senior has been haning out in the white house for 20 of the last 28 years.

and * will name an activist-fundamentalist-xian who will lead the new crusades for the next eight years after *, and the Democrats will stand around slack-jawed because they are fearful of saying anything against religion.
